New fine increases for distracted driving violations go into effect Friday. Increased fines for texting while driving or using an electronic handheld device while driving were part of the 2013-14 budget.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office says the new fines will send a tough message to drivers, that distracted driving is a serious problem with serious consequences.
The new minimum fines & maximum fines are below:
• For a first offense, the minimum fine is $50 and maximum fine increases to $150.
• For a second offense committed within 18 months, the minimum fine is $50 and the maximum fine increases to $200.
• For a third or subsequent offense committed within 18 months, the minimum fine is $50 and the maximum fine increases to $400.
I was going from Sheriden to Transit, heading North. There was about 3 troopers stopping cars as they came around. They glanced in the car and said to move along. Wasn’t even checking for inspection/registration.
Saw a few stops last weekend that I thought were DWI checks but they were looking for phones. Rolled right through without a front plate.
Thought I was getting pulled over on lunch. Pulled out of the gas station on Main by Goodrich, had to beat traffic on both sides, hit the gas to go across the lanes and make a left… had to wait for the guy pulling in, so went around him and hit my WEEETEC which caused the ass end to slide sideways and make a bunch of loud happy noises. I look and see a state trooper as the only car sitting at the light on Goodrich turning my way. lol Thankfully it must have been lunch of the end of his shift.
They were looking for drifters. Srsly, on that turn.
I’ve been stopped there. Inspection. You cant turn away once you see them. That is a prime place they hid.
That would be a badass turn to drift… Not during the lunch hour though

I know this has been spotted before, but I actually witnessed it being driven, sounded like ass. Sorry for the terrible pic (and streaky windshield), only had an opportunity at the 290 overpass at Sheridan and Harlem.

Also, later spotted at Main and Union an SUV and pickup truck at the same time being pushed off the road. Caused some decent back up during the afternoon traffic.

It’s a complete pile, my streaky windows and terrible overpass lighting actually make that monstrosity look better.

Spotted the bright orange Lotus Esprit on Grand Island this past week/weekend and haven’t had a chance to make note of it here. It was at Mr Best Wrench on Bedell Rd on Grand Island. Such a nice car and one of only a few I’d ever consider that color on.
