They dont need to talk, if the dog was a threat it wouldve shown it by its actions. The dog was not a threat yet the deer attacked anyways. A deers instinct is flight before fight yet for some reason this deer went for the dog as if the deer and its fawn were backed into a corner and had no choice.
As for your analogy, since when is a residential neighborhood a deers territory? That was the only other thing I could think of that would have triggered the deer yet a deer clearly isnt going to claim an area like a neighborhood as its territory. So the deer wasnt threatened, it wasnt in its territory, yet it attacked, its extremly unusual.
