The deer attacked because there was a predatory creature dangerously close to itself and it’s offspring. Stop trying to think like a person and start trying to think like a wild animal.
Although you could be right, maybe this deer was deliberately out to get this dog. Scoped out the neighborhood a month in advance to learn the dog’s routine and habits, learned it’s every schedule, and when it felt the time was right it just set up the perfect trap.
But on a serious note, deer arent exactly known for charging at wolves in the wild are they? They run, if theres a predator in the area 99% of the time a deer is going to run not attack.
Correct until you throw fawns in the mix. I have seen deer attack anything that moves within 100 yards of their fawns.
Also, in response to a post further up, suburbs are just as much deer “territory” as the ADK’s. Actually in terms of population there are more deer per square mile in suburban areas than in rural.
