Hi im new to this forum, and this is my first car a 1990 240sx. For some reason when i push down on the switch to open the oil latch it doesnt automatically “pop” open like most cars do. I have to hold it down and get someone to open the latch manually while im holding the switch down. This also occurs to my trunk. This of course is very inconvienent so i would like to deal with this problem ASAP. If anyone could help me with this problem it will be greatly appreciated. Thx!
Umm…maybe I’m missing something here, but what do you mean by oil latch? Are you talking about your fuel door? (Which would only be an oil latch if you put Diesel in it. :D)
Perhaps there is some sort of JDM trick the 240 guys can help you out with. Welcome to the forums!
First off, welcome to the forum.
It is the fuel door, or “latch”. And, well, if it’s not opening when you pull the level, it may be difficult to find out the source of the problem.
Probably just need to clean and lubricate the hinges.
Thanks! Turns out i just needed a spring for the fuel door aha. Yea i didnt kno wut it was called so i called it a oil latch sry for the misuse of the word! Anyways problem solved thx to all who replied!
Haha I wanted to post an aswer for you but I couldn’t think of what you meant by oil latch. I thought maybe 240’s had something my z doesn’t.
