Oklahoma - Wow (abortions listing)

Abortion rights groups have filed a lawsuit to try to block the new law, which requires women seeking abortions to provide doctors with answers to 34 questions including their age, marital status and education levels, as well as the number of previous pregnancies and abortions. Women are required to reveal their relationship with the father, the reason for the abortion and the area where the abortion was performed.

So much for abortions being confidential…

I absolutely disagree with this law.

This is definitely retarded but I highly doubt it will pass. As long as it doesn’t reveal their name and address I don’t think it will work anyways.

I’d like to see how women in these pro life camps would react if they had been raped. Think they would keep the child?

Holy invasion of privacy on a super-sensitive issue. This is one of those “Score points with the Bible Belt by undermining abortion, since we can’t ban it outright” proposals that will be struck down in court.

Who cares. The doctors can’t make the information public. HIPAA…

You guys make it sound like if a ho gets knocked up, you really give a shit. Judging by how you act online, I would find it hard to believe ILC and Joe both wouldnt laugh in an abortion patients face given the chance.

My opinion… who gives a shit. Im not saying abortions wrong, but who gives a shit if a girl is embarrassed for not keeping her whore legs shut. And if rape is the cause for abortion, im sure that would be covered in the questions.

I wouldn’t laugh in abortion patient’s face. I would encourage and support them for making the right decision and not adding to the world population of suck.

I don’t understand…

All that information isn’t a direct link to a person its statistical data…

You didn’t get to MOBOOSTS mom in time :frowning:

Talk about fucked up, look at some of their other abortion laws.

Two years ago, Oklahoma passed a law barring public funds from being used for abortions with the exception of rape or incest. The effect has been to prevent virtually all hospitals in the state from carrying out terminations because they are unable to prove that some part of the procedure has not been subsidised by public money.

Many hospitals had in any case already stopped terminations under pressure from politicians and intimidation by anti-abortion groups. About 96% of the state’s counties have no abortion provider and most women seeking terminations have to travel.

Last month a judge struck down a state law requiring a doctor about to perform an abortion to carry out an ultrasound with the screen positioned in front of the mother and to then describe the developing limbs and organs of the foetus. The woman could not be forced to look at the screen but would have no choice but to listen to the doctor’s description.

The law required that the ultrasound be carried out vaginally if the pregnancy was in its early stages in order to get a clear picture. Rape victims were not exempted.

The sponsor of that law, the Republican state senator Todd Lamb, said it was intended to give the mother “as much information as possible about that baby” because it might grow up to win the Nobel prize.

:bloated:

It had been way too long my friend.

I think you meant your mom…

Boom!

I know several girls that have been through it. and I commend them for making the right decision. Do I think they should have their names printed on the internet … Absolutely not, its a private matter and should stay that way.

Just being on the internet alone is shitty, but Imagine what crazy pro life groups would do with the list of addresses. Its going to set this person up for harassment for a lifetime. Then you have the employer that is hiring and is pro life. OOOPS you don’t get a job cause you had an abortion, thats called discrimination.

Does this law repeal HIPAA?

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t really see any value in it, but I think you’re completely skipping over reality and going straight to indignation if you think this will make abortions public.

are you serious? unless you’re a virgin, this is a pretty retarded statement

Ive had my share of scares but at the end of the day, if it had happened it would be 110% our fault because pregnancy is completely avoidable (based on how safe you wanna make it lol).

Honestly, I have had some good friends who have had abortions and if conversation pressed deep enough I would have no issue calling them out on their stupidity because between oral, the pill, condoms and anal, you should have no excuse. Even drunk the first thing I do is reach for the hats knowing judgment of… yah know… is off.

The beef I have with people having abortions are the ones who think its a form of birth control.

I agree that it’s foolish if used as a form of birth control. Especially since the morning after pill is over the counter.

But I still support the option of abortion. if the choice weren’t there we’d be more fucked than we already are.

and in terms of upon whose shoulders the blame lies; it takes two to tango. It’s not just the girl being irresponsible, it’s the guy as well. So if you have friends that bang raw, they are just as guilty.

If you can make the decision to kill your baby, why can’t you be forced to look at it on a screen or have someone describe it to you? If you are having an abortion I’m pretty sure you know what you are doing. You know you are killing the fetus inside you. They should show you a video taking a fetus out of a lady or however they do it. I don’t see a problem there.

I go deer hunting, I shoot a deer and I cut it up the middle and gut it. I don’t pretend that it never happens and I’m just eating venison.

FYI there are tons of families looking to adopt children whom can’t conceive their own. Whats wrong with that?

This isn’t that surprising seeing that its Oklahoma. I don’t agree with it at all.

i’m :tif: on that. if this were true, there wouldnt be so many kids waiting to be adopted.

the foster care situation in this country is seriously fucked. so many overcrowded orphanages, so many instances of abuse in them. so many kids that grow up with so many problems. I know it’s easy to say there are a ton of people looking to adopt, but the fact is the majority of children in foster care have a shiltload of problems

I will now bow out of this thread, there is no need for a debate on abortion on nyspeed. i highly doubt anyone here will convince another via car forum that their view is the correct one. And on this issue there isn’t much middleground, people feel one way or another. Both are rather passionate about whatever side they’re on. It’s a can of worms, and I don’t have the desire to debate it on a car forum.

I will just have to agree to disagree with anyone who feels different than I, and not let it create any personal biases as a result.
