I thought these were very very well done.
Still on going. The torch is coming in soon.
The person who just belted out hallelujah did an awesome job!

So pumped for hockey!
So much pressure this year. Makes me miss being between the pipes.
some really cool visual effects this year
The dude that sung hallelujah, yes, did an awesome job. But
He wasnt a dude!!
Just saying.
Overall it was very well done. I’m very dissapointed at the lack of pyrotechnics though. Very dissapointed.
Katie Lang or something.
Go Wayne!
well i’m glad the exterior torche didn’t Fail like the interior one did
^^ haha. true. I think someone is going to get fired!! (mechanical engineer). Great ceremony.
it was very cool to watch other then the fuck up with the 4th door/leg thing not working but was very nicely done. GO CANADA!
i was literally embarassed to be canadian yesterday.
the death was totally preventable and should have been expected with the comments about the track from everyone and the fact that there were exposed steel pillars right beside the fastest part of the track.
secondly…
if you have never been to Canada you’d think we were a nation of dancing native indians and flannel wearing, fake tatoo covered, fiddle playing drunkards and tap dancers… either that or way-overweight bearded poets
there was not choreography to speak of, little to no pyrotechnics, and nothing that i felt represented anything relevant in my life as a Canadian.
Furthermore,
Nelly Furtado, Bryan Adams, That black opera diva, that french dude, KD Lang, Sarah Mclauchlan and Ashley McIsaac… NONE OF THESE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN RELEVANT IN YEARS… the closest would be Nelly Furtado and all she nad Bryan did was step out onto a stage and walk around singing an uninspired song.
It was soooooooo terrible… i had to leave the room on several occasion because of how embarassed i was for our whole country that this is how we portray ourselves to the rest of the world.
On the us forums i am on, ZT, Nyspeed etc. they are all laughing at how bad it was and rightfully so. I cannot defend this country today
Nelly Furtado, Bryan Adams, That black opera diva, that french dude, KD Lang, Sarah Mclauchlan and Ashley McIsaac
None of these people were actually performing… Bryan Adams missed his mic que and his voice was heard while the mic was pointing to the ground… At least Sarah could have sung it for reall but nope… that was pre-recorded too.
That was my piss off.
Oh, and yes, the prevent-ability of that death.
this will be remembered as the ceremony where the cauldrons didn’t rise, shameee
or the natives being given centre stage with their peers protesting outside and their chiefs not prioritizing the event high enough to even show up on time.
Ya true that eh… pretty weak. Although I did enjoy the movie on the floor, and that northern lights thing.
Bobby Orr !
yeah they did a few things right.
Nikki, the chick that did the anthem, was perfect. Probably the best Oh Canada has ever sounded.
And that 1 minute of silence was very powerful… they honoured the dead athlete properly, it was nice to see them not try to avoid the subject. They put it right in the open and dealt with it respectfully.
Other than that it was a total farce
You’re too harsh on Canada.
I loved everything about it, even the little screw ups but thats because I’m an annoyingly proud Canadian.
I don’t think many will care about a column not working. They handled it well. Besides, Canada winning its first gold at home will be much more remembered.
And the singers/performers were well picked. The French singer is a star in Quebec. The others are part of Canada’s past and present.
We can’t fill three hours with the latest pop stars from white English speaking suburbia.
Its all about mix, diversity.
What’s done is done though. Now its time to enjoy the games.
GO CANADA!
bing would rather see justin bieber
haha
matty, you need to be more critical about this.
this was a squandered opportunity to raise the canadian profile internationally.
instead, they laughed about these ceremonies on the US or other non-canadian coverage. We were understandably compared to the Beijing ceremonies and we failed.
China 1, Canada -50
That is exactly how I felt. Not sure why we always resemble Canada like this. It happens all the time
