I got a phone interview with Diamond Aircraft to work on their new D-Jet. I am shitting bricks right now, as this is my dream job. VLJs are the shit. They are the coolest aircraft one can possibly work on, with the exception of fighters, but nobody in Canada designs fighters anyway, so this IS the coolest aircraft you can design. They are always high-tech, high-performance BALLLERR ass aircraft, unlike the large, economy oriented ones.
Yeah congrats sounds pretty neat, what exactly will you be doing with them though, if you know at all yet. There awesome aircraft to fly, flew a DA40, cant get any better!
FUCKING TWATS! It’s a fucking contract position. It didn’t say that anywhere on the posting… Man, I hate this shit. They try to fuck students over and save money. They all fucking do this shit, they’ll hire a student b/c they’ll do anything, and then they get rid of them and get a new student so they won’t have to actually pay a fair salary. So pissed right now.
That sucks dude, I was excited at the begining of the post and then it was such a let down.
Anthony you should just go for it anyway man, what do you got to lose? Even if they don’t keep you it will be a good experience and it looks good on your resume.
But look at it this was too, what happends if you meet someone there thight might be able to help you out, like lets say you make friends with some top guy or someone in human resource?
Dude you never know what can happen in life, just go for it and see where it takes you.
…Maybe you might even meet some hot girl in human resource who will suck your dick so you wont have to do it your self anymore LOL.
Yarr. I am.
Anyway, I’m actually calling them back. The first thing on my mind was “why would I ditch a well paying permanent position to take a contract?” and then it came to me after a good shit. I hate my job. It pays well, it’s easy as hell, but it makes me want to blow my fucking brains out. I do have bills that I need to pay, and it’s a risk that might cause me to lose the G, but I’m going for it. I’m gonna call them again today.
If you do a kickass job and impress them there is a good possibility that they would be willing to offer you a full-time position.
It’s true that contracts are nice for companies to get some bullshit work done on the cheap but at the same time it gives them an opportunity to scout for new talent.
We kind of use that method where I work. When we need some help we call a hiring agency to get people in here to do whatever… lift boxes and build skids say… and if they kick ass at it and show some enthusiasm we might offer them a full time position. Probably 50% of our “bitch work” guys have been hired after coming on part-time through a hiring agency.
don’t let a contract keep you away from the job in a field you actually went to school for. I started with a 3 month contract and I’m still in the same company after 4 years
It’ll work out one way or another. If you don’t stay in that company, you’ll at least have the experience which will get you another job in that field.
