OMG SNOW 2009-2010 thread - driving, pictures, etc

Lol.

Your welcome

OK I was behind her again today, if anyone knows the chick that goes to KB every morning tell her to just pull over when she sees the Audi catching up to her like she is sitting still. Thanks. Seriously riding the brakes on Holland Glenwood when you are going so slow already?!?

It’s barely snowy or icy out and I just got back to work after following three cars driving 45 MPH on the 33, side by side. I wanted to ram the guy in the left lane for being a douche. He was probably being Mr. Speed Police passive-aggressive guy knowing I wanted to get around with the rest of the mile long train of cars behind him and was laughing at his “control” of the situation.

you’re

:fu:

Figures it’s a girl.

My hot Euro 'dub

Walter, i think you need to shadowline that bitch.

I’m sure Avis would love if I murdered it out.

oh. lol.

:bigclap:

^ people piss me off too during this time of year. Just today…

I got flicked off for turning around using my AWD in a parking lot where there was clearly enough space, no chance of failure and I executed the maneuver perfectly. No cars were around and I was coming out of a parking space all by myself, far out into the lot. All four wheels were loose and I swiveled a quick 180° to turn around. (hold the wheel left, put some gas and presto… the back wheels kick the car around) If I didn’t know what I was doing, if there was any danger of hitting something or someone I wouldn’t have done it. I know how to drive my car and am capable of using snow to my advantage without a worry of hitting something. The woman flicked me off as I was driving by her, after the maneuver, a good 15 cars down the row towards the store.

I looked at the stupid woman and just wanted to stop, get out and go slap her. I’m sure she is probably someone who backs up three times to get out of a parking space because she can’t judge her vehicle and leaves 8 feet between her car and the car behind her. Or, she was just a judgemental b*)@$… but whatever… it still pissed me off and still is upsetting me for some reason.

lol I don’t even need AWD (but the truck is nice when the woman’s not driving it). 3rd winter now with the Grand Am, no snows. It’s a 3000lb pig. I can drive better than some of the assholes with awd/4wd, etc. The key? I pay attention and no my limits!!!

Yeah, awd drifts/parking maneuvers are fun.

Speaking of AWD cars, a friend of mine in winter is terrified of her car because it is AWD. She feels all four wheels “lose traction” and brakes or slows down to a crawl.

I keep telling her to point where she wants to go and give it gas and she thinks I’m crazy.

Some people just don’t get it. Just like that post a few up about the WRX that drives extremely slow, it’s probably the same situation. She probably feels the traction kick out and the car slides a little sideways a little and gets terrified rather than understanding how to actually drive with the AWD.

I’ll admit that when I had my first drive in the snow with my AWD car it was a little scary at first, but then I put the thought into actually getting to know my vehicle. What a concept, right?

Getting to know your vehicle, lol. That’d take way too much initiative and time!

I had my Lesabre mastered in the snow

I knew everything it was going to do before it did it in any conditions.

I am now driving a Rear Drive P71 Interceptor that is very tail happy, even with snows on the rear.

So Do I drive more cautiously this year? Sure, but next year when im more comfortable. I will go faster.

Cautious is going the speed limit for me.

Everyone in here is a professional driver…

Now, with that said, I can understand the aggrevation that many of you seem to experience on a daily basis. I myself drive a cherokee for the winter, yea I get stuck behind people, yea its aggrevating. So lets say I go flying around this person and let my emotions get the better of me… ok, I get home a minute sooner. Is it worth it that much to stress over this stuff? I dunno, I let it still get to me sometimes, but I keep telling myself that its not worth it to get angry over. One dumb move and your car can be toast… wait, I forgot again that we all went to driving school and went on a skid pad and pulled our cars out of drifts/ spinouts. We share the road with everyone else and not everyone is as skilled/ aggressive as everybody else. Respect it, if people driving slow bothers you that much then give yourself more time when the weathers bad…

“Euro 'dub” as in the car that is sitting in the Swedish snow right now. Its a Golf, I think it has about 3 ft-lbs of torque… seriously.

Agreed fully, people don’t understand the abilities of AWD (I’m talking, all AWD besides Ford’s).

When I got the new tires on, transit rd had about 7 inches of snow on it at 3am. 5 lanes of no traffic, no snow plows or police in sight, so I gunned it. Even at 55mph in snow halfway up the wheel it kept totally straight and accelerated uniformly. It would definitely have been scary if there were cars next to me since you could feel the tires trading out traction, but it shows just how amazing AWD + good tires is.

Also that reminds me of the guy who posted how he hates all this new technology cars have, haha.

That night was a lot of fun…i just wish the snow wasnt as deep as it was. WE need to get some snow tires on you sti so i can get some good videos of that.

Word. So many people live such a miserable life.
