my bad on the lsx years, I kinda group the lsx in with the chebby 350. 
Have you seen the torque numbers on the 03 cobra or lightning? Even the N/A marauder and new mustang GT motor isn’t too shabby in torque.
LSX’s are not that cheap to mod compared to a mod motor. It may be a little cheaper but not much.
Pushrod motors are nice, but they will not be around forever(at least in normal factory production).
