this looks pretty interesting… lots of time to prepare too since the thing isnt until Sept 2015.
WHAT IS THE ONTARIO 1500 MOTORSPORT ADVENTURE?
The Adventure is a 7 day automotive tour of South / Central Ontario under controlled conditions comprising of: eight “Time Attack” legs, four “Autoslalom” and two “Drag Races”.
Entrants will be teams of 2 to 4 persons over 18 years of age, licensed to drive in their home jurisdiction. For Time Attack legs, drivers must be graduates of 2 accredited performance driving schools. All team members must share equally in the driving duties.
Teams are on their own throughout the event. No support vehicle or outside assistance is allowed.
Each team will share one vehicle, in which all of their required gear, equipment and spare parts for the tour must be carried. The vehicle must use DOT/MTO approved tires rated at 140 or greater treadwear rating. A ‘tag along’ trailer will be allowed and teams will be able to swap out parts and 1 tire during the event.
All vehicles must be street legal. The field will be divided into classes, and there is a class for everyone. Rules
Awesome, this is really exciting. Hope it actually pans out.
Not sure I like the classing tough. <3.5lL <$60K Modified means my N/A Miata is going up against turbo 350Zs, FDs, RB powered S chassis and the like? Would like to see an additional <2.0 or non turbo class or bump turbo cars into >3.5L.
Kind of annoying I have to spend a bunch of money on HPDE for solo stuff but it’s probably something I should have done years ago anyways. Just hard to justify ~$500 for someone to tell me about all my bad habits it’s probably too late to break anyways.
They may waive the school requirements if you have competed in OTA or CSCS Time Attack which will open it up to a few more people.
Although, I feel like the requirement is more to bring up the overall quality of drivers more than safety so they may not care about your experience unless you are a regional solo champ or something.
I doubt the entry fee for this will be cheap. I would like to hope people are smart enough not to act like idiots and throw that money away. Besides;
