originalsin's 73 240z build

please put an rb25 in it

actually thats what im leaning towards as of now. mainly because i can get pre fabbed mounts, although this is true for the sr/ka and ls1 option as well.

few pics from today, not much changed, cleaned the engine bay some, stripped paint off most of the chrome pieces. theres 2 pics of the dash with typical cracks after almost 40yrs, not sure how i will deal with this yet, most likely a dash cap off ebay.

Nice S30. Good place to look for a dash in better shape is Hybridz.org. Saw an uncracked one in the classifieds over there a week or two ago. Hows the rust situation?

I’ll be pulling the l28et out of my 280z soon if you want to pick that up. I also have a ka24 if you want that instead, haha.

RB25!!!

I can help you wire it.

Take what I said and multiply by five. That looks stone solid. (I see the Cali plates and it all suddenly makes sense now  )

The location part that says socal on the left side of all my posts didn’t give it away???

Only bit of rust is in the passenger side wheel well, on the firewall, it will be a simple fix tho.

I’m on most of the z boards, dashs in good shape are too much, this car is not going to be a show car… the dash covers on ebay actually look pretty good and they are only $100. As for the engine I think I found a solid l28 out here already.

And newman, I assume u mean helping w the wiring in person.

When you move out here…

At the end of the summer.

Well, I’m not the brightest bulb in the carton :stuck_out_tongue: Seriously, cars like that just make everything sooooo much easier down the line, no cutting out spot welds, hacking up quarters, patching toeboards… just fun stuff.

come on dood put an rb25 with a 30r on it and rock out! or if ur guna time attack put a 2540 or a 2860 on it for fast ass spool

haha, i have a lot of other plans before something other than an L series is going to be in this car…

Does your girlfriend know that you’re not going to be hanging out with her anymore because you’re gonna be too busy with the car? If not, I will alert her via FB.

s52 swap right?

Haha. She’s catching on I think.

And prolly not s52. M52 is wayy cheaper, especially when I just sneak in JD’s garage and steal his entire drivetrain and ecu

lolllll

i know the security code and everything…done

looks good, been snooping around for some wheels, not to much i can get my hands on for cheap through work… let me know how much your looking to spend andy. i have a good idea on some wheels might cost a bit but they would be at cost so it would be a good deal.

what im going to spend all depends on the wheel and sizing, i cant see much more than like 1200 tho

edit: heres a pic from this guys build on hybridZ, diamond racing 15x10 with 4.5in back spacing

he hasent done a coilover setup yet, still on stock suspension, theres a photoshop of it lowered…

idk how i feel about the wheels, there are REALLY inexpensive so i assume for the time being they would do

very nice. I hope to get my 240z together at some point. This whole starting a business thing is killing my funds right now, as well as dd’ing the s50 e30

UPDATE. have been working on this slowly, usually after work for a few hours until it gets dark. i was waiting on getting a running engine for a while and started doing some body work, i think im going to strip it all down to metal, theres a lot of filler on some panels.

as far as color i think im going to do a matte dark gray, kind of a semi gloss, with black trim and black wheels.

picked up this sweet fake wood steering wheel that came in some Zs from the factory

engine is in, just need to hook up fuel lines, a few vac lines and the wiring harness and it should be running.

also did some work on the dash. i basically took a dremel to all the cracks to flatten everything out and clean them up, then i filled them with great stuff. today i shaved down the foam and started applying plastic bumper epoxy over the foam, and sanding that smooth. then spay with a texture coating and semi gloss black trim paint. its a bit of a long process but it turns out nice and holds up well. the only other reasonable option is a dash cap, but those just don’t look that great

edit: also, update with the army green 240z, coilovers are on, not at final ride height but almost. this is what i am aiming for.

great project dude i love it. these things are so dope. good luck with the build
