Now “we” have an excuse when the international community asks us to go back in and fix it, we can simply say “Nope. This is what that sovereign nation wanted”, and wash our hands. unfortunately, I don’t EVER see this really happening.
Kind of. Put yourself in their situation. Our presence there is causing so much pain for the citizens due to outbreaks in violence from anti-America groups and what have you.
We did as much as we could, we should have left already. It’s like the guy at the end of the party that just won’t fucking leave, and starts to get violent drunk when people tell him to.
If this results in further battle, I’ll be extremely disappointed in the American government.

Obama and McCain both agree that Afghanistan is next. They are already starving for troops there already.
General Patreas will likely adopt a similar strategy to clean up house over there. Then, Iran is next.
Finishing the job in Afghanistan and then going home.
