Building boxes and imaging can’t be that hard for a bunch of tech dorks. Jesus, and cluster’s aren’t even that hard.

We dabbled with it at PTI, but nothing out there in the “real world” scenarios. What servers are you using, I would also assume newest version of SQL? I could not fathom what performance issues may be had.

a 16 way is a x460 8872-2au with 3 x460MXE boxes(barebones boxes) scaled to each other (using copper scability cartridges and ethernet links between the RSA’s). each box has quad processors (new dual core hyperthreaded 3.6’s) and 32gig of ram… so what… when merged and booted it’s like a 230ghz processor with 128gig of ram…
performance issues with writing IO and cache levels within the hardware and software for optimal sql performance… just basic bullshit… but getting sql clustered between 2 servers and 8 nodes isn’t a walk in the park.
Duh, IBM, I’m retarted today. It’s nice to see that you get to dab in the new hardware coming out. I will agree, I wouldn’t want to take on the task of getting SQL to run smoothly on that cluster, good luck to the minions.
