I haven’t played any of those games yet, but I’d stay away from using s-video, you’ll get a much better picture if you have a monitor/TV that supports DVI/HDMI.
Super cheap is the goal, so I’ll skimp on that for now and upgrade to a proper setup later.

I used to be in a Caterham league running with guys in UK. RFactor is nice, but NKPro is the best sim IMO; iRacing actually is co-developed by the guy who created NKPro. Too bad that sim is not that popular. :sad

After some research, iRacing has the best track design that I’ve seen, but isnt developed to the point Rfactor is. Track design is the main reason for doing this (learn new tracks before I go, dont get rusty over winter, etc).
Rfactor will do for now. It’s also real easy to find competition. I haven’t used the other sims. Kind of just following the direction of friends.
I absolutely love Cadwell Park, Brands Hatch, and other tiny windy Brit tracks.
iRacing scan all the circuits with laser and then they stitch the data together to recreate the circuit for the simulation. It is bar none the most accurate representation of the real circuit ever existed in any race sim ever created.

one of my admins on my gaming site plays iracing religously, and because of that all i hear about is iracing this and iracing that, and i’ve tried it out, its a really nice game for sure… but my favorite still without a doubt is Live for speed S2 (liveforspeed.net)
Since your gonna be doing a setup for racing sims dude, get rfactor, iracing (if u feel like paying for it) , LFS S2 (FOR SURE), and some other sims
