No but its BS, whoever did that is wrong, thats not even funny

Wow, thats a serious fuck-up

so the parents got the worst possible news and the best possible news in the same day. talk about an emotional roller coaster

Oops

Yeah, this is one of those instances where you really want to know wtf you’re talking about.

Parents got zapped.

They went camping the next day?

Jesus. As shitty as that is, can you imagine how incredibly happy that family was to hear that the news was a mistake?

Ashton Kutcher is behind it.

About a week ago i watched a show on msnbc, and it was about a identity mix up after a car accident. What happen was there was a van with 9 people in it. They were from some church group or something. Anyway, there were 2 blonde girls that looked pretty similiar. One of them died (girl 1) and the other one (girl 2) was seriously injured. Well one of the girls was found with the other girls purse. And NOONE did a proper idientification check. The parents of the “dead” girl did not want to see the daughter and identify her due to injuries.

In the show they said at the time that, that particular state did not require DNA testing for proper idientification. Oh and this happened in 06’. So girl 2 was in the hospital in a coma with bandages covering most of her face. So the "parent"s of girl 2 were taking care of the girl and sitting in the hospital every day for a month. And the family of girl 1 buried there “daughter”… SOOOO when girl 2 woke up after the coma, in rehap she was asked to write her name on a piece of paper. And she wrote girl 1s name. So the doctors said she suffered massive head injury and needs more time. Then slowly, the family started to relize different teeth, eye color and belly button ring. So then it was a huge mix up. … So the family in the hospital called the other family and told them, your daughter is alive, but they said theres no way we just buried our daugther. So the real parents of the dead girl had funeral, and the girl that lived got go to the cemetary and see the plot and tombstone where she was supposibly buried, freaky. It was a crazy story to watch. I can’t amagine buring my “kid” then getting a call that there was a mix up and my kid is actually alive…

Heres the link with pics. There not identical, but their close enough for this kind of mistake…

Fuck. I feel much worst for the family that was sitting in the hospital thinking that their daughter lived, and then finding out like that.

That wouldn’t happen if everyone was chipped!

There’s a bit more info here:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2009-09-14-dead-soldier_N.htm

Lt. Col. George Wright, an Army spokesman, said the Army does not notify families of soldiers’ deaths by phone. An officer and a chaplain meet with families in person to break the news, he said.

Wright said the error came from a support group outside the Pentagon that helps families cope with a death.

“It was not malicious,” Wright said.

The Pentagon said it is taking the incident seriously and was looking further into the matter, said WGRZ-TV in Buffalo.

I cant imagine either of those stories… :frowning:

As much as it would suck, I bet they formed a really close bond to the other girl and now treat her like family. Prolly eases the pain a little.
