I am looking for someone who freelances and has expertise in web-design to work part time to bring our website up-to-date, then manage the content on a regular basis. Right now, I/we aren’t EXACTLY sure what we are looking for or what we’re looking to spend, but we’ll know when it’s presented to us. At the moment, I take care of our website, and I just don’t have the time or expertise to keep it where it needs to be.
Our website is www.gormanent.com, hosted and designed by a local company. The layout isn’t horrible, but it does need tweaks. The content is just bad. My problem is that our business has several different divisions; for example we do school and commercial bus sales, fire truck and ambulance sales, truck equipment and other specialty vehicles - then we do parts and service for each of them. We have a 46,000ft service facility that is a large part of our business. Organizing a website to be consistent and easy to navigate is easier said than done. For the most part, our competitors only deal in one of these fields, so their ability to focus their website content on their specific business is much easier.
I’ve used our hosting company for content services in the past, and frankly while they are great people and willing to help, we just don’t see eye-to-eye. They are purely SEO driven and in my opinion the pages they were making just reflected poorly on what we actually do, and were just garbage. If I spoon fed them content that I wanted them to put on a page with pretty wrapping paper, it was just too much $$$ for what I was getting in return.
What I’d like to do is see what’s available out there and meet face-to-face to see what makes sense. I know you’re supposed to redo your website like every 3 years… what we have right now is about 3 years old and was never close to completed to the point where I could just update content and add pages as they became necessary. I’d like to take what we have and maybe make some simple changes like changing colors, but no complete redesigns.
If you’re interested or have any recommendations, PLEASE SEND ME EXAMPLES OF WORK. One website that I find impressive is vciambulances.com. Again, they only do ambulances, so their job is quite a bit easier.
Please feel free to discuss in this thread, and for serious inquiries, please email me at bjgorman@gormanent.com.
ALSO - eventually I’d like to setup a webstore for parts… TBC
Thanks!
Bill
