What do you guys recommend? Other than using the shitty bundled software.
Thanks for the quick reply. I should clarify that this isn’t going to be used on the latest and greatest per say. I’m having to service machines that are on average 5 years old and would like something to aid in troubleshooting when they go down.
Depends on what you want to benchmark…
I like wPrime and Cinebench for raw CPU power. Combine that with SuperPi 32M or 1024M to tweak your memory timings and speed. 3DMark 03, 05, 06 Or Vantage to punish your VGAs, and PCMark 04, 05, or Vantage for a nice all around system test…
Im not that big of a fan of the Futuremark products (3DMark or PCMark) due to the fact that they often wont run a entire test due to some silly error or conflict, and they’re easy to cheat on. Cinebench CPU Test is great for letting you know how much computational power your 4gajiggaherts processor can really do, and compare to other systems. Crysis loops show you more ‘real life’ numbers, as in FPS on a 3D game… Which is generally more important than some meaningless number. And this is also easy to compare to other systems to gauge your performance.
