I hope that the pysical speakers aren’t shit. The laptop is less than a year old (Christmas will be a year). I didn’t think to try to plug in earphones … I can try that when I get home from work around 3PM.

that should tell you if the problem is sound card based or speaker based… well… at least it should tell you if it’s a physical speaker issue.
