It sounds like a driver issue / incompatibility with Vista SP1. You say SP1 fails to install? Does it start the install process and then fail, or fail before it even installs?
Noah … Where the fuck have you been?
The first time it said installing … then failed. Now it fails as soon as I click on the update
Freshman bitches.
Try downloading and running the standalone installer.
I’ve seen sound just stop working countless times from Vista SP1. Once we get SP1 installed properly, Windows update should find and pull the updated sound drivers compatible with SP1 for you, and you should be good to go. Try that, see if it works, and if it does, run auto updates again, and get everything you can. Let us know. That’s my best guess without actually taking a look at the machine.
Thanks Noah it’s DL’n now … Big ass file and it says its going to take forever … I hope it works!
if this don’t fix it mike, i would just take that shit back to CC and say fix my shit
did u get any kind of additional warranty on it when you bought it ?
Im hoping that this will fix it Guffey …
Lyndsi bought this for me for Christmas … (I bought her the exact same one … and nethier or us knew … LOL … it was awesome) …
But nethier of us got the extended warrenty. Hopefully this will work … Just taking forever to download … Im at 23% now …
Mother fucker …
I did the Vista SP1 upgrade … took forever. I got through it ok, checked for all windows updates … I had 7 of them, including the sound thing. Got through the updates, rebooted … and still have shit through my integrated speakers. Headphones the sound comes through fine … but nothing out of the computer. God damnit!!!
labtop>:bash:<little mikey
If that’s the case, it sounds like a hardware issue.PM me and we can meet up and I’ll check it out.
Thanks Noah!
that was the case before you suggested sp1… that’s why I asked him to plug in headphones…
Even after the SP1 download and all updates … Still nothing through the actuall laptop … But headphones still work fine. I might just go and buy a small set of speakers plug them in and say fuck it
dont take the easy way out, i want to know whats wrong with it!
Im afriad if I call and send it to HP … they will take forever to get it back to me. I also dont wanna take it somewhere and pay out the ass to have it fixed. I dont know what to do!
haha good point
Went to walmart today with Lyndsi … They had small HP speakers for $20 bucks … Problem solved …
lol
dude just take it apart or have someone take it apart and check out the speaker… see if it’s integrated or plug-in. it might be replacable or might just start working if you plug/unplug…
When you comming to Cal? … LOL
