PC to TV.

So I was looking around to get some info on streaming videos from my pc to my tv. Anyone have any experience with this? I heard of couple things about the new “slingbox.” I also know that with a xbox360 you can grab videos from your pc to your tv. Just wondering if anyone has ever done this.

i dont really know what you mean by streaming, but i download movies and use a program called PS3 Video 9 and convert them to play on the PS3, then transfer them using a USB flashdrive.

they have other programs for the Wii and Xbox too i think…

SOOO easy to do with a modded Xbox 1. Xbox 360 is picky about the format it will use. There are programs to decode most video to x360-preferred format but it eats a good amount of PC power. A modded xbox1 will play anything your PC will and then some. Its also alot easier to stream over the network as your PC only needs to be running basic file sharing and not a 3rd seperate app like the x360 needs. Not familiar with a slingbox.

If you have a 360 just download zune player and then add the files you want to play into zune and you’ll be able to access it on your 360.

You can also try s-video out to your tv and then just set up your tv as your other monitor and you’ll be good to go. I heard the resolution isn’t that great.

There are a few other ways to do it if you need more just ask.

Slingbox allows you to watch your TV from a computer. Why not just get video card capable of S-Video and patch it into te TV?

Thats what i do,.works great!

Thought this link might help you out a bit.

hmm…IDK if “streaming” means wireless? I just use a HDMI to DVI Cable. Works great. 1080 FTW.

<-no hdmi input port

i guess i could do that, prolly be the cheapest way.

I did that with my old laptop. From what I remember S-Video REALLY looses it signal strength fast. I ordered a 25ft svideo from online and the picture was crappy(fuzzy) - def/ not HD @ 25ft. IDK about a shorter cable, but I would look into it.

it sucks because i got a HD tv with no HDMI input but i got a VGA input of the thing witch i was kinda werided out by.

actually just found out. I have a VGA port on the tv so… I can buy a VGA to DVI then buy a DVI to HDMI and sabam should be good.
