I just recently installed a megan manifold on my s13 sr and noticed my boost dropped about 2 psi. Is this normal? Im assuming since there is less restriction from the megan manifold it caused the boost to go down? Kind of like a water hose effect, if you turn on the hose with nothing on the end of it the pressure isn’t very much but say if u put your finger over the end of it the pressure will increase because there is more restriction.
Thats my theory, i don’t know if it makes sense or not.
I have also noticed a slight change in the exhaust note aswell. It doesn’t seem to be a deep as it did before?
has anyone had similar experiences when putting on this manifold?
the exhaust note change is normal, the tubes being almost equal length makes the note sound smoother however im not sure about psi i changed alot when i installed mine
no im saying i changed about 10 things when i installed my manifold so i cant comment on the psi, however it dosent make sense that it goes down it should go up.
Did u use the manifold gasket that came with it? if yes, 2 people who will vouche for this have had them blow with in hours of putting them on. so urs could be leaking…?
Does ur down pipe have flex pipe on it? if no then this could cause the bolts on the turbo to come loose as there is no flex in the exhaust when u push it… shaking the turbo lose… this has happen to 3 people who are running the manifolds…
if neather of these are the case then possably it is simply leaking…
Thats just my what iv been told… true or not with these manifolds…
Benson, Farmer where 2 of the people who had these problems.
I did not use the megan gaskets, i got oem gaskets from nissan so they are not the problem. I know forsure i dont have a leak because i have triple checked for any exhaust leaks and everything is good, i would beable to hear a leak if there was one.
The boost leak could be ANYWHERE in your system…not just arounf the turbo. You obviously disturbed your charge pipes when you did the work so one of your couplers could not be sealing as well as it did.
Do a boost leak test and I bet you find something.
I recently did one on my car and found 2 large leaks I did not know existed.
