hey all, in order to ride one legally on the lakes/rivers all you need is just to take a boaters saftey course correct?
if anyone has any more information on this, please let me know.

I’m pretty sure if you are over 18 you don’t need anything, though the boaters safety course is always a good thing to take before heading out on the water.
I thought that too, until I got yanked by 3 Troopers on my jet ski last year.
Oh damn, the laws changed then since the mid 90’s when I took the course ha ha.
Unless they changed something you dont need anything if youre over 18yrs old. You can get your boat liscense at 14.

You need a valid NYS driver’s license.

You do need a course. A guy I work with bought a jet ski last year and had to take a course.
Sometimes theyre offered at fire departments. Thats where he took his.
Probably too late in the year to take one now though.
You need to take the boaters safety course. They changed it a couple years back. EVERYONE has to take it now, not just people who are >18.

You need a license for jet ski’s not boats as long as you are over 18 I believe.
