Peter Robinson (guy with brownish tacoma) in TU

hey guys i found this on the TU’s website:

http://timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=636228&category=ALBANY&BCCode=HOME&newsdate=11/5/2007

wtf

so basically he did 160 on a public road, into a construction zone and had a reporter write about it?

wtf fuck that guy

ehhhhh. I dont think I would want anyone writing about how I drive ~160 on the northway…
If another car even tried to switch lanes/or get out of the way, they would all be dead on impact. I do NOT go crazy with other people in my car, its so stupid, I would never forgive myself if I hurt someone else bc of my speeding.

I read this too, what a tool. If police were not watching him before, they sure will be now.

He is a pretty cool guy if you talk to him in person…

yeah hes a cool guy, im sure the story was supposed to be about him seeking the world record, not going 160 on the thruway

Thats mostly likely it… It talks about wanting to prove people wrong and being a record holder, not cruising the northway…

Yea but the guy talks about how he bombs up the highway going 160. He’s not the sharpest tool in the shed admitting that and having it being posted in a local news paper. I don’t think i’d want my employer to see that either. He admits he’s had tons of tickets and stuff.

it seems like the reporter exaggerated a tad… this is from Pete himself (from rspeed.org)

"yeah i dunno i had hoped it would be a side note a simple brief story

then i heard it was going to be in the paper on monday so i put it up on here, really a stupid move on my part

i wanted the article to be about how its an every day vehicle with almost 200,000 miles on it and i will be attempting to reach 200mph this year and 240 next year once the engine is rebuilt

the journalist asked me to go for a ride and show him the results of my labor and i punched it for about 5 seconds then slowed down cause we were coming up on traffic

then we got off the exit and as we turned around to come back it started to rain so bad that all of the hiway traffic was doing about 40 (i wasnt speeding) and i was hydroplaining (slipping as he said in the article)

i guess he forgot to take in to consitteration that my smaller “race” tires are infact MUCH smaller than the stock 31"tire causing the speedometer to read 95mph when keeping up with traffic in a 55 zone

the guy made it sound like all i do is speed and i dont give a f-k about anyone else on the road

i have more than my fair share of tickets i have paid my dues and learned my lesson

occasionally yes i speed but who doesnt

all i want to so is see how fast my truck can truly go and inorder to SAFELY do that i have to bring it to the salt flats where i have to pass several tech inspections

if you all want to bust on be for liking to go fast and bringing my truck to the track you better think twice cause im just the same as all you other guys at the lot who are proud of your mustangs and comaros and montecarlos and civics and whatever else you got

we all love cars we all love to talk about cars and to make them go faster
i just happen to have a truck and a bad journalist"

If you ever go 160 on a public road…your dumb. That is all

:werd:

The hi-way and interstate systems here in the states were never built with the intention of going 100 plus MPH. then you throw in the fact that they aren’t maintained to superb levels, other drivers driving poorly, and the fabulous weather we have here in the northeast. It’s just a bad idea to go that fast on public roads PERIOD. Sure I’ve done my share of speeding, we all have, but building a truck with the intension of having it reach the 200MPH mark with nowhere to test that out locally but the road, come on.

that article may have also been not all that true, I’m pretty sure that same guy was going to write an article on my friend. he proofread the article and it said something along the lines of “he drives a fully equipped ex-police Impala with full lights and sirens” my friend got defensive and said what the hell?! My car has ONE dash light because I’m a volunteer firefighter and my car has no sirens in it. so I’m just saying don’t believe everything you read.

I don’t believe EVERYTHING I read, but I definitely believe the police impound reports when someone is caught doing what they said they don’t do.

salt flats ftw :banana

yeah or a track with a big straightaway

that’s what the salt flats are, that the guy plans on going to

Fixed

yeah but there are definitly tracks way closer than the salt flats that you can go fast as you can on

oh the Tacoma’s still goin to the salt flats
