PhysX cards? anyone here use one yet?

I’ve been kicking around the idea of getting one to mess around with, but not sure if it’s worth the price compared the the devs. using it in future titles. Looks pretty dang cool though

Seperate GPU (PPU) to handle realistic physics (water/air/cloth/solids). Here is a demo of it from a game called cellfactor. It reminds me of when you needed a seperate math co-processor to run cad programs, or when 3D-fx just hit the market (why would I want a seperate card for games? lol)

I guess nvidia is working with havok to mimic the same thing using their SLi setups (one GPU for graphics and one for physics)

isnt there only like 1 game that supports it?

I don’t think there is enough support for it yet. I would wait until the drivers can take advantage of it. There is a rumor that MS doesn’t have proper support for it yet too… Wait for Vista and DX10…

it is very cool, but the price just don’t justify the performance for now

ati is going to a 3 card SLI setup for physics, with a special 3 slot pciX motherboard.

$$$$, but if your running maya, you can afford it.

Do this instead:
