The downpipe fitment is absolutely atrocious. Fuck. #1 It hangs like 1.5" under the frame rail. I wanted to drop my coilovers by that much and if I do, the exhaust is just going to get obliterated on any speedbump. There is will be like 1" of clearance if I drop it. #2 The bracket that connects to the damper on the transmission was an inch too low and and inch off laterally as well but that is a different story.
-I did drop my tranny and have to tilt the motor down. It seems like maybe the motor is tilted too far back but this is probably not the cause. I replaced the tranny mount and torqued it down perfectly so the motor is sitting properly.
-The turbo elbow is connected correctly. The exhaust manifold, turbo gaskets and bolts were replaced in Japan so there is no issue there.
Unless I’m doing something wrong, this is the first and the last time I will be buying this Megan shit (should have probably gone with a Circuitsport or Blitz - I didn’t think it was that hard to fuck up a pipe).
Downpipes from Meagan usually fit like shit and the flex section always hangs quite low. You will have to chop it up and reweld to get it into a better position . A muffler shop should be able to do it in .5 hours at the most.
I was under the impression that the little legs were to mount the heatshield from the cat. I ended up taking it off because it was rattling.
Can anybody recommend a good muffler shop that can do this for me (properly and won’t rape me for price)?
I’m a little pissed off cause I paid $300 for both from Autodream in the hopes that I could avoid fitment issues but now we see how that turned out. :roll: This Megan shit is the equivalent to Walmart brand.
The reason why it hangs low is because of the flew joint, its about 4.5 inches around… its pretty damn logical that if it didnt have the flex joint it would be made to tuck higher up.
Megan makes fine products. They are good quality for what you pay. The best bang for buck after market parts company out there period. Granted their downpipes fit okayish at best. Exhausts are just a pain in the ass anyway, I just goto minake(spelling?) and pay the 80 bucks to get my exaust mounted.
