Not sure who really cares or not, but I figured I’d post pictures of it since it is mine now. It’s a basic daily that I don’t really have to do anything to. Any mods will be fore convenience or gas mileage mostly, since I’ve got the blazer to finish still.
So I picked up my car today. Got two new tires and a couple extra keys tossed in the deal. So far I really enjoy it. Not quite as fun as the acura was, but definitely more grown up and practical. The car was clean, but I didn’t get pictures of it them. It’s a little dirty, but you get the idea.
my only complaint about the car is the location of the mirror switch, but since it doesn’t get adjusted much, it’s no problem. Still getting used to the new 6 speed automatic too.
So far so good. Can’t really compare it to the 3400, 3500, 3800 ot 3900 yet cause this has the 6 speed auto, which shifts differently than the 4 speed the others have, but I can definitely say it moves well. Got about 40 miles on it running around today.
Leather seats. Contemplating looking for some cloth seats since I like the ones in my girlfriend’s 07 G6 better at the moment, but these are growing on me. The heated part is nice.
The car is loaded.
6 disc CD, XM
Onstar
Heated leather power seats
3.6L motor
tire monitor
steering wheel controls
remote start
18" wheels
rear seat audio system with two wireless headphones
paddle shift
sunroof
fog lights
Basically everything I wanted and then some. So there was no compromise on options and no need to add any later.
Oh nooooo 3.6l FTL… Can’t tell you how many timing chain jobs we have done on those motors. Cts STS acadia traverse enclave SRX damn. Any 3.6l. Hope you don’t get a check engine light. Or maybe you’ll be lucky we had a few get away with just cam sensors. If you do need chains done be prepared to have a loaner for a day or too. Other than that it’s a nice car. The do drive nice for a daily. Pretty comfy.
It’s honestly the chains themselves and sometimes the gaskets/shims behind the tensioners. I’ve seen it as low as 8k mi. The job needed to be done. It takes about 6hrs in a car to do. And more than 10 in the suv’s (you have to drop the whole drivetrain and cradle). We have also done a few crankshaft jobs where the reluctor(sp?) ring spins on the crank so you have to change the crank and all the lower end bearings. But not nearly as much as the timing chain jobs.
and I thought GM was turning it around, V8 or nothing it seems for their brands, been happy with my grand prix though, to bad the 3800 was to “nostalgic” to keep building.
Still not sure why the didn’t keep saturn OR pontiac.
