Three Rivers Volkswagen is in contact with the team that runs Pinks All Out. They are trying to set up an “Imports Only” event at the Pittsburgh International Raceway in New Alexandria, PA. Please email the Pinks team at rich@richchristensen.com to let them know that you would be interested in attending an event like this. The more responses that they get, the more likely they will be to set up the event.
In Pinks All Out, you do not race for Pink Slips. After everyone that shows up runs their car ALL OUT twice, the Pinks team finds the 16 racers with the closest times. They do not always pick the fastest cars. They pick the best grouping of 16 racers with the closest times. Those 16 racers are then paired off and they race. The winner of each of the 8 races gets $1000. The loser goes home. The 8 remaining racers are then paired off again to race. At this time they are given the opportunity to bet some or all of the $1000 that they won. They race and again the winner moves on and the loser goes home. The 4 remaining racers are again paired off. Some betting can again take place and then they race to get to the final 2. The final 2 then compete in a 2 out of 3 hot lap competition with the winner receiving $10,000.
When you send your email to the Pinks Team at rich@richchristensen.com please use the subject line “Pinks All Out - Imports Only - Pittsburgh, PA” If they continue to see the same subject line over and over again, it will definitely get their attention. Then they won’t be able to resist making the show happen."
We have made contact with them and the owner of the dealership is confindent that Volkswagen will sponsor the $10,000 grand prize. They are reviewing our info and we are waiting for a response back. We just figured that the more emails that they get that would show a good turn out, the quicker it would happen.
As far as being import powered… I don’t know… I think we would like to keep it that way since all of the other episodes of Pinks All Out are dominated by domestics, but I can’t say for sure.
Well send an email to the address listed in my first post and get everyone that you know that would be interested in seeing it happen to do the same… Please use the subject line
“Pinks All Out - Imports Only - Pittsburgh, PA”
The more they see that, the quicker this will happen.
I’m so glad you guys are responding. We have a lot of people here dedicated to making this happen. We just thought that if we hit all of the forums with the idea, and got people to email them telling them that they would race, it would show them that it would be a success. We’re going to make this happen. It’s just a matter of time, so get all of the people that you know that would be interested in racing or just seeing the race and send those emails to rich@richchristensen.com using the subject line Pinks All Out - Imports Only - Pittsburgh, PA
Obviously you are getting a hard on about this event … but I think we can find the email in the other posts of yours … you do not need to post it everytime
I don’t see any glory in doing imports only. If you can’t run fast enough to make it interesting then why run? It’s not as if imports can’t run 10’s and be competitive. The last thing that anyone wants to see is a bunch of riced out civics doing 14 second runs. I think it’s actually a better show if you have a mix, since a lot of people like to see the import vs. domestic races.
Also what would qualify as an import? Is it a pure import nameplate rule, or do rebadged cars count? What about cars that are actually domestic models but just use import motors?
