Oh oh , I got an idea we’ll give tax breaks to big buisnesses to draw people to respectable shoping areas instead of “957 Weeve” shops, then we can charge them 20 dollars an hour to park in the city which will leave shoppers with little to no money to give to the actual stores and keep them in the city.
no…i just think it’s time to stop keeping a city with little economic oppertunity afloat with taxpayer money…
and i’m a hardcore liberal!
let’s face facts: we’re not going to see a return on our investment. the steelers are the only sports team we have that isn’t a bad year away from bankrupcy. three rivers stadium wasn’t even paid off yet when it was imploded. how much debt will the city owe on PNC Park when it’s deemed “outdated”? and how much will i (someone who only drives through the city, and on a very rare occasion, goes to the convention center or south side) have to pay for it.
maybe we need another flood… wipe out the city and start from scratch.
Maybe if the Pirates dropped down a league or two… like if they played the Harrisburg Senators or something… they could start winning, draw crowds, and pay their own bills. Until they can, “1st of tha Month” by Bone should play non-stop during their games.
nothing is more certain in life but death and taxes. i hate paying them as well, but there isnt a damn thing we can do about it. the gov. is messed up, when they actually made a tax you have to pay to work thats when i knew we were up the shitcreek. oh and then they raise that tax. bastards
this is the answer all morons who can’t grasp a simple concept give.
Also the answer most commonly given by city residents.
Mean while if everyon did pick up and move who the fuck are they goingto tax next…Rodents don;t get paid and they are about the next most populating spiecies…
i’m a bucco’s fan, but like you said there doing nothing really but causing more debt. what they need to do is what the florida marlins did a couple years back… just spend a shit load of money on ballplayers, start winning and win the world series in one season. then during the off season when all the bills come in release the players. sounds dumb but during that one year they would have probably made enough cash to pay there bills and so on.
The other problem is the city doesn’t think long term and neither is cutty. This is evident in the "We are getting the all star game this year.
Well unless it pays off 3 stadiums with one game then it isn’t worth it. Instead of trying to place a band aid on a jugular wound how about going in and doing the fucking sugury right the first time.
keep insulting me with second grade comments because every second you are getting taxed by the city of pittsburgh. people really cry about taxes here but you should see some places that are worse in taxes and cost of living.
i agree, the all star game isnt gonna do shit if the area around here doesnt support baseball itself. yea other people from out of state will come but who cares, that one game will not produce the million upon millions the city needs to cover there broke ass’s
Cutty you are the one who defends it with a blind eye and TRIES to justify it. I can guarentee if you didn’t live there and thinking you are so ghetto fab you wouln’t be so happy about what is going on.
i totally see what ur saying but wayne hyzenga (sp?) was a billionaire and the group the owns the pirates can’t really afford to do it. we do have the guy who built that marlins team (dave littlefield) and i know he’s doing his best. The problem isn’t the pirates thou, its the teams like the yankess and its the players. all the pirates can do is plug up the holes in the ship and try to stay a float. As long as teams like the yankees keep paying it the players will never be under control.
you only say that because of the percieved opinon of me on here. The truth really is the nothing in my life besides a few dozen rap CD has anything to do with that stuff. I don’t think i live ghetto fab or think i’m all that well off, but i’m not homeless and i have things that i want.
Ok lets put it like this, i don’t own the pirates but the way the business is affects my salary. Not very much different than say if someone talked horribly about JJ’s and sammy lost hours because brian didn’t have the money comming in to pay him. I’m defend it to the fullest.
he isnt blaming the pirates and only the pirates, he is blaming the rediculous taxes ccreated by BOTH stadiums
pirates, pitt, steelers and even the penguins can contirbute due to the outstanding balance left on the Arena.
The fact is that the city is going down the shitter with financial problems and the only “soloution” that is ever brough up or used is… LETS RAISE TAXES!.
I never get into these threads but it is plain and simple. if the politicians wouldnt raise taxes so rediculously and just accept a small debt, people would stay in this city. and with people staying in the city, would generate more income WITHOUT raising taxes.
They need to re-think the financial priorities of this city big time.
