My kids want to ride a train. Thinking about taking the Amtrak from Greensburg to Pittsburgh and spending a night downtown then coming back the next day.
Anybody know what kind of neighborhood the train station is in?
There’s a Marriot Courtyard 2 ro 3 blocks from it.
The train station is actually the bottom floor of the converted “Pennsylvanian” apartment/condo complex. Nice building. The general area isn’t too bad since the Greyhound station moved, but the walk to the Marriott is not that close. Take a cab. It’s all uphill and it’s not a direct route walk.
I took the train on a couple busines trips last year just to do it. The train is cool. the best thing to do is take a long trip so you can get a sleeper car. But even the short ride from G-burg in the regular car should be fun for the kids.
wouldn’t be that fun on amtrak.
