Pittsburgh International Race Complex

Newly named race complex outside of Pittsburgh:

:ham:

The entry road pavement project was completed on Friday

Yay, now you don’t need a rally car to get to the track!

Well now there is no need to argue if the name was beave or beaver, lol.

But why throw away years of brand recognition? Unless their was something negative tied to the name “beaverun?”

The part where they originally promised a track double that size, with ALMS and GrandAM probably didn’t help them.

I wasn’t into the politics of the place. I haven’t been there in a few years actually.

that part didn’t change:

^ Wow, that looks awesome if they actually add the new track.

Yes the track would be better if it was longer, but the addition of the South track would not fix the existing flaws with the North track.

Interesting that they did away with the South track’s paddock, so I guess adding is still on the drawing board;

I’ve never been to Beaverun, so what are these north track flaws you speak of? Just looking at it on the map it doesn’t look bad.

Wasn’t there an issue with people running into the wall in a certain corner?

Since this maps has numbers:

Front and back straight are drag strips connected by some twisty bits.

Based on 140 hp:

Coming down the front straight you easily carry 100+ then hard braking to 50-60 for T1.
T1-T4 can be part throttled or heavy throttled depending on if you want to be smooth or aggressive.
T4 moderate braking.
T5 moderate braking, uphill, you’ll have to stay abnormally inside (vs. tracking out) to set-up for T6.
T6 leads into T7 blind, just figure out your exit and stick to it.
T7 over crest, feels off camber coming downhill. Flat on gas 1/3 way down hill.
T8 flatout
T9 flatout which sets you up for again very heavy braking 105 to 50
T10 painfully tight.
T11 Low gear will roast tires going up hill.
T12 flatout

It’s o.k. for track days, I’m not saying never check it out. As hard on brakes as Dunnville.

For racing T1 is good for out braking. T1-T4 isn’t that great for side by side racing. T5-T7 there is only one line, so if you get off line to make a pass you lose speed uphill or have a bad entry to T6 or T7. T8 is really the only “turn” you make something work off line. T10 is good for out braking. T11 is good if you are mad at your tires.

Cliffs; it’s one line or nothing and two straight aways. Just doesn’t feel rewarding for being smooth.

Care to elaborate? I’ve never seen anyone close to a barrier. Runoff is good.

 on the rundown. About what I expected in terms of braking just looking at it. I’d probably go a step above the EBC yellows on my car and seriously doubt I could carry T9 flatout especially since you said coming out of T7 is downhill. I can feel the heat from my brakes just thinking about T10 and T1.

Since I almost never use them I think it’s time to pull the fog lights and look into some front brake ducting. Rig them up so I can slap the lens back on there for street and just pop them out when I want venting for track days.

T9 you’ll always want to go through under power because if you lift you spin. Probably give up speed before then back on.

Maybe I’ll bite my tongue.
