I have a Marantz VC5200 DVD changer and am having problems with movies and cds skipping. I was wondering if anywhere around amherst is able to fix these. I am willing to spend the money on it b/c it is an amazing player and if it’s cheaper to fix it than buy a new one, then i will be getting it repaired.
Have you tried to get a cleaning disk?
that actually made it stop playing music discs. before it would do music fine and videos would skip intermittently, now it skips with everything. i may wind up taking it apart myself to see what i can do with it. and if i break it more then i don’t have to worry about it cuz it was free. i just figured if it cost me $100 to fix it then i’d be getting a bad ass player for only $100
ah ok. just tried to see if you tired that step before you dumped money into it. sometimes its something simple like that.
Needs a new optical pickup (laser),don’t bother taking it apart.
It will probably cost $130-$150 to repair, with parts and labor. Its actually a easy DIY if you can get the part.
used to be a place called the hi-fi hospital on transit
http://www.hifi-hospital.com/ not sure if they’re still around.
Lifetime Service Center, they are also a sponsor.
why do people still plug this place … so over priced
fixed a few things of mine 12 years ago? did it on the cheap… like i said, it’s been a while.
Here is the thing.
I think most marantz dvd players carry a 3 year warranty, this is a 2006 model. If you can provide a receipt I think it can be fixed under warranty.
This model is from 2002 and was garbage picked by a friend a few years ago
