If you want to increase the a/r of your housing along with a new wheel, it gives power without all the cost of a new turbo.
Buying an on center turbine housing gives more room for certain turbos… (generally t-4 size)

I don’t know if I agree with that. Switching wheels requires rebalancing of turbo. Rebalancing of turbo around here, due to the total ass-raping of the select turbo builders around, costs more than a new turbo.
People usually offer a few housing choices so common turbos like T25/T28 can be mounted to a variety of applications.
