Hi there,
I have a Flowmaster catback on my 01 Mustang GT and I’m looking to purchase a midpipe with cats. A few people have suggested the Bassani catalytic x-pipe yet I am still unsure. I orginally wanted to go with a h-pipe but was also told that Mac and BBK use inferior cats on their products that only last a few years. How will a chambered muffler sound paired with an x-pipe? Has anyone else run this setup? Thanks!
An X-Pipe (especially a stamped/chambered X style like Bassani or BBK) with Chambered mufflers will sound a little raspy. Some people describe it as “marbles in a coffee can” sound.

Personally, I’d get an H pipe with Flowmasters. I mean the sound isn’t bad with an X, but X’s sound better with straight through mufflers IMO. That’s just me.
get a Off-road H pipe and 2 o2 simulators and swap the pipe for inspection. it takes all of 20 min to swap an H pipe.
My buddy had the H pipe set up with a Bassani Cat back. on his 2004 Cobra. Sounded pretty bad ass. I would do that set up…
