LS1 is a good but expensive swap, Joe (the RX7 specialist in the shop) completed one in an FD not too long ago… awesome car.
JZ engines are pretty heavy, a LOT heavier than the stock 13B that you can pick up by yourself.
The SR20 swap isn’t to make a ridiculously fast car or anything, just something comparable to stock that you can trust to get your body around every day. There is an FC at the shop with a seized motor and SR parts laying around everywhere. It won’t be any more sluggish than an S13 with an SR, and if it doesn’t have enough power it’s pretty cheap to make some more from an SR.
Best of both worlds, good condition FC shells are not hard to come by like S13s… and with pistons you could trust it to drive to Florida and back.
And to keep this sort of on topic, a picture of a motor that I’m going to put into one of my S-chassisssesis’s. Not sure which one is going to be the daily driver though.
