Post your rig specs

Thats a good overclock for just air. What was the 3D Mark before the gpu overclock?

10,230, bone stock.

Then a bit of oc on just the core side got me 11,469

I have a XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 on order. 30 bucks cheaper than the hyped out zalman, plus it cools better. Heatpipe Direct Touch is the way to go now it seems.

Im not sure about cooling the gpu, stock cooler seems fine so far.

Ya. Ive got a zalman 9700 and it keeps my 3.6ghz q6600 really cool. As far as the gpu cooling goes, just take off the HS/Fan and reapply better TIM (MX-2 or AS Ceramique). Itll drop temps a few degrees C. Worth the effort IMO. Then use a prog (riva maybe?) and keep the fan speeds at 75% during idle, and 100% while gaming, or something to that extent. You’ll be golden.

Some pics of new stuff, excuse the shitty pics, im lazy and dont feel like doing them over lol

Wow man, you need some cable management.

Reverse the cages on the rocketfish to help with the sata mess. And those stock lian li fans dont throw much air, i bet your cpu runs 5ºC cooler when the case is open.

And you didnt plug in the top audio jacks or usb?

fuck management, this isnt a beauty contest lol

and no i dont need 130000 usb ports

Hey, you are the one taking several pics of your internals.

And everyone loves USB ports.
Although the top ones are kinda rough until you use them a good bit…

hmm i might do that with those hdd cages, what fans would be good besides the lian li, also i leave that side open too, but i guess i can put the cover back on it.

Well the best fans are going to be a Panaflo, Sunon, or If you can find it the Sanyo Denki San Ace, which is amazing.

You are looking for about a 80+ cfm fan, 120mm, and the 38mm deep fans are generally quieter for the same airflow vs the 25mm.

http://www.petrastechshop.com/120x38mmfans.html

Petras only has the good stuff, but good fans are not cheap. Almost all the fans on newegg and whatnot are much lower cfm than they say, and louder than they say and have some blinking lights or other BS on them.

You might want to look into if speedfan can controll your fan headers on your mobo. Im assuming you have enough headers on your mobo for all the 3 pin fans that came with the case? Pop open speedfan and see if you can throttle them down. With a little tweaking you can make speedfan ramp your fans up or down when stuff warms up and you can get away with louder (30’s and up dBA) fans and not have to listen to the constant noise.

Just STAY AWAY FROM THE DELTA TRI FINS, they are… LOUD.

i really dont see why i need new fans, ive OCd my cpu well over 1ghz over stock, i cant hear my fans now as it is, what is the benefit?, i dont see any at this point. But, if i did decide to get anything cooling related id use frozencpu, they are local and good guys.

Nice pc, but OC that thing more man. My 780i allows the q6600 to hit 4.0. Takes a bit more voltage to stay stable but it can get there. Is yours a G0 step? If it is 3.6 should be cake.

I am running webtv :pimp::gotme:

^ nice rig man

shit, never noticed this. Yeah, it’s a g0 stepping chip

I’m pretty content with 3.0 at the moment (a nice, “safe”, OC). I brought it up to around 3.4 or so but decided that 3 was fine for most stuff that I do with it. Plus I had an 8800GT at that time, so the extra oomph from the CPU was sort of moot.

What are you running yours at (voltage and FSB x multipliers)? Now that the processor is a bottle neck for my GTX260, maybe I’ll tweak it back up a little more

17" WXGA 1920x1200 res Nvidia 9800M GTS Display 512MB DDR2 Memory
4GB DDR 3 RAM

Awesome laptop and really happy with it.

I cant remember exactly…I think the fsb was 1.4v and vcore was 1.475v at 3.6ghz 1600 for my q6600 G0 (stock multi). Those arent too high for a 65nm. Currently Ive got a q9450 at 3.6 1800 24/7. Dont worry about those cpus man. They can take some abuse. Just keep it cool, and 3.6 is perfectly safe. With a 260, 3.0 is probably holding you back some. Not alot since most games are still dual core optimized, but prob a few fps difference from 3.0-3.6 assuming you can maintain low mem timings while raising the frequency a bit.

@ Boxxa,

That is def a nice machine man. Very cool. Itll prob do real well with most games out there too.
