power brake question

My dads 95 exploder is having brake issues. The pedal goes to the floor. there are no leaks and the master cylinder was replaced. We bled the brakes for a good hour tonight and the brakes hold pressure as long as the car is off(no pedal fade at all), but when you start the car, the pedal goes to the floor with very little pressure. WTF is wrong?

the only thing I can come up with is the vacumn booster or something is funky.

Did you bench bleed the master before installing it?

I never bench bleed. But I’m very farmiliar with workin on cars. If you did in fact get all the air out, then you probably bought an Advanced Auto part. Return it, and never deal with them again.

or it may need the abs bleed!

I am not sure on the bench bleed of the master cylinder, i will check.

How do you bleed the ABS - his rear antilock idiot light came on while we were bleeding them last night, but it was too late to figure anything out.

thanks guys

call my shop.i’ll explain

yep

and I have no idea how you get away with not bench bleeding master cylinders. I always do and sometimes you dont even have to bleed the system… b/c im that good  :steelers:

poor mans way of bleeding ABS ,drive 15 - 20 mph in graval or wet grass hit the brakes, abs cycles & should be ok!

I do it on a lift… its scarier that way :bigthumb:
