I’m really getting sick of waiting for Verizon to get their heads out of their asses and finally get me internet. I thinking about just saying f’ it and going to cable internet.
In my apartment complex, I pay an extra 35.00 a month on top of my rent for regular basic cable (non-digital as far as I’m aware… I only have like 80 channels or something like that).
can I get powerlink how I currently stand, or will I have to upgrade my cable service aswell? I’m 100% content with the service I already have… dont need a DVR box or any of that stuff (shit, I hardly watch TV as it is) nor do I need any premium stations.
also, how long did it take you to get all hooked up with it and how much is just the basic powerlink service? I looked on their website but they didnt list prices.
I just did… heres the kicker too, first 3 months cost me less than the fastest DSL speed (and it’s faster than DSL)… NO CONTRACT and best of all, I’m able to pick my equipment up today and start my service. time to call Verizon and tell them
I’ll be getting in touch with you Adelphia peeps in the near future… I need to know the in’s and out’s of how they work.
well… my plan is to keep Adelphia for a few months and maybe switch back to DSL if the price starts outweighing my need for the faster connection. I like the price and Verizons apparent commitment to privacy (aka not ratting people out of d/ling torrents and whatnot) but I just got sick of waiting.
I planned on getting vonage when I moved into this place, but so far it’s been 3+ months with no internet and no phone  sucks a big one
lol u wont spend 15 bucks on a game, and u want to uncap???
well heres the deal, you have to see what kind of modem they give you, and then go buy a sb4200 off ebay (35.00), cause u dont want to uncap with a leased modem. Then you have to buy a rs232 port (30.00) to change the firmware on it. Then you have to buy a sigma licence (20.00) for the actual uncapping part of it. Then you have to learn how to do it all and make sure it works, adelphia is very hard to uncap as they use MD5, and tftp enforce.
I had horrible slowdown with Powerlink during peak hours. 2am, I was downloading shit at blazing speed. 8pm I couldn’t even check my Yahoo mail because it wouldn’t load.
im thinking they gave u a 5120 series modem, its black right?, even if its a 5100 those cant be uncapped in the way i did it, you would need to purchase blackcat, as the firmware cant be changed via rs232.
