Generally, I agree with you. Him and I never discussed politics ever until I realized I fall on the conservative side of things during Trump’s first term. When I was younger, I definitely looked like I would fall on the liberal side of things (fair amount of tattoos, used to have a ton of piercings and had a mohawk for a few years) but most of that was just my way of dealing with some struggles I had and I had no political affiliation whatsoever. This friend in particular helped me get through quite a few of those struggles and kept my anger in check when I wanted to fly off the rails.
It took a lot of loss and fuck ups for me to realize I needed to come to terms with my shit and that many of my issues were self-inflicted or genuinely not real and I simply needed to mature. Him and I don’t agree on politics and while it frustrates me at times, I can’t take for granted the amount that he helped me in those years. Our mini-arguments about policy and whatnot are a fraction of our friendship so I don’t worry too much about it.

Both at work and life, so I’m a decent problem solver when work shit hits the fan. Still working out that life part though.

I agree with your statements. Something I truly believe in that I wish was driven into me when I was a kid is “Be a man”. With my father having next to no part in my life and my grandfather passing away when I was only 11, these words/this concept was never presented to me. While some find this archaic and I wouldn’t take it to the extremes of never showing emotion, this simple concept would’ve helped me immensely through my formative years.

That blows. I never paid attention to how strong role models mattered until i see how all my kids friends/friend groups have evolved.
I told them their whole lived that their friends choose their future, so choose wisely.
They didnt get it at the time but now that they are 20/18, they are seeing it too.
