They will not be 20-30k in 5 years.

I’ll quote it and wait to find a 2006 with 100k in late December next year.

COOL STORY RON HOWEVER IT DOES NOT EXIST! lol The statement was 5 years. Next year a 2006 will not be 20-30k. Sorry

Based on desire to prove Cougarspeed wrong I have been watching prices of E60 M5’s. Funny enough, when I clicked the link he created there was a car available today. Long before my December deadline.

Since I did not create this thread just to advise Cougar of his inaccurate estimate of used car values. School me on the do’s and don’t to buying an E60. From what I have read avoid 2006’s due to electric issues and the 6 speed leaves a lot to be desired and the 7-speed SMG blows up around 50k.
Other than that the V10 make a glorious note and smiles for miles.
I have been watching the prices of certified 2008 and 2009’s and the prices are less than what I would pay for a 2009 CTS-V.
So feel free to educate me.

Also provide any other vehicles you would consider for $50ish with 3 years of factory coverage (I don’t want the buy a 2006 911 turbo and VSC discussion).
Currently considering CTS-V and M5. Leaning towards the V if I can find a MT6, navi and recaros for a reasonable price, but due to the fact the majority of V’s are auto’s the manuals are pulling a premium in the used market. Match that with a lack of off lease vehicles since there was no GM leasing in 2008 the prices are holding like a champ. I don’t want to take the depreciation bath once the supply rights itself.

The maintenance costs on M5’s really scare the piss out of me. Other than that, I think they’re great and I would consider owning one. Probably one of the few cars where I would take the paddle-shift over the manual clutch.

You found an outlier. The exception to the rule, not the rule itself.

oh yeah, 10 says the one linked above has something wrong with it (accident(s), mechanical, etc…)

Really great job of not proving me wrong. But really great job of being creepy. lol

Gee golly gosh sir you really dun showd me.

In reality I just bumped the old thread with updated pictures of the F10 M5. I scrolled through the old thread and saw the link and clicked it.
At the same time I have been hunting for a new car and these have at least peaked my interest.

New one looks great! I honestly haven’t looked much aside from when I was car shopping a few months back. But I was only trying to spend around 30k with 2yrs of warranty minimally so it ruled out the M5. I am sure you can get one for close to 30k now a days if you didn’t mind a high mile one though. I just don’t have it in me to own multiple cars that I might need to work on.

after seeing this thread I did a search. You can get in the 50-80k mile range on a 2006 for low-mid 30’s.

2006’s are really really really awful cars. Trans sucks, interior is fucking AWFUL, onboard electronics fail, and look like shit. I could go on and on. The only good part about the first model year cars is the engine… which every other non fail model year has.

Do you mean all e60’s or just the 2006? I’m a little confused by this post. Care to elaborate for the noobs?

From what I have read 2006’s should be avoided.

2007+ models are good, 2010+ are fantastic. But the E60 is definitely the step child in the 5 series family. F10 takes it back to where it should be, styling, interior, and the way they drive.

I didn’t realize there would be so many differences between all the years of the e60. Good to know. Thanks for the info.

Ehh… he is almost there… http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=p&car_id=293426924&dealer_id=66008649&car_year=2006&systime=&doors=&model=M5&search_lang=en&start_year=2005&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&search_type=both&distance=500&min_price=&rdm=1302210087510&drive=&marketZipError=false&advanced=&fuel=&keywords_display=&sownerid=605505&lastBeginningStartYear=1981&end_year=2011&showZipError=n&make2=&certified=&engine=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&body_code=0&transmission=&default_sort=newsortbyprice_DESC&max_mileage=&color=&address=75214&sort_type=priceDESC&max_price=35000&awsp=false&make=BMW&seller_type=b&num_records=25&cardist=4&standard=false

From what I look at and what I would “want” to own, 2007’s are 40-45K ish. I am not really sold that much over my current 335i in terms of general looks and low end tq.

Yeah open it up to 35k and there are 24 of them and some 2007’s.

i love mine… its a 2006 SMG btw…

interior is fine… i dont mis the little updates the LCI got in the interior… mine is a full leather car, so i have a leather dash/alcantara headliner…

i was in dstar’s the other night, car seemed pretty fly, and with his exhaust that engine sounded awesome
