Problem with sr20.......

my car wont crank at all…the first time it happened i boosted the battery and it started fine and ran fine…thats when i thought i had a bad alternator…when i got home with the car i left it running and unhooked the battery…car was still going so i dont think its the alternator?..so now i thought it was my battery…so i went to buy a brand new battery and spent 100 for nothing…i went to start my car this morning and nothing…i dont know whats going on…i would appreciate any help

another thing…the car will start up fine when it is warm…and when i leave it for a while…nothing

A eletrical short that is draining you battery after sitting for any prolonged time.

sorry dude i didnt quite get the question

yeah, most likely the cause of parasitic drain. disconnect your negative battery cable, and put an ammeter in between the negative battery cable and the terminal. if you get more than .25 amps, then that confirms something is screwed up. make sure no lights or anything are staying on (hatch, under the dash, dome, glovebox) as those are the most likely cause. if those aren’t the cause then the way i learned to do it was start pulling fuses and checking the ammeter after you pull each fuse. when the reading drops down then you know that the circuit that you just pulled the fuse from is the one that’s draining your battery, so check the connectors and wires to make sure there’s no short.

well thats just great…thanks for the replys

im thinking it may be that because after i shut off the car after boosting it it starts fine within 10-15 minutes after shutting it off…it wont start after leaving it for a while…man this blows…its gonna be fun tryin to troubleshoot it in -50 degree weather

if the alternator is like the ka one, i had a similar problem, check the small single wire on the back of the alternator and amke sure it’s good and tight…check the toehr conenctions to the starter as well

update:

brought the car to crappy tire to get the alternator tested…they come back and say the alternator is not charging…they said battery was fine…how can the car still run if i disconnect the battery while the car is started if the alternator isnt charging??? now im really stumped…i dont know what to do…
