programming road signs?

you know those big orange construction/road signs with the generators and yellow light up letters… how are those programmed?

IR maybe?

dont ask why.

IR but usually “encrypted”… like 8 bit.

Why?

why ?

no reason

lol what… i know that they emit ka band … but they use that to sense ka’s

ir is sooo old. i wonder if there is some sort of interface… do a search on them onthe web you are bound to find them.

i seriously doubt that there is any crazy encryption

¿por qué?

first step would be to get up close and personal with ione and get brand / model of one, and see if there are any control panels of a programing nature on it, or a data port of some sort

the manufacurers site might say “our signs are easily programed using ****”

:gotme:

8 bit… nothing a 4 year old couldnt get through

at least on the few that I’ve ever reconned… and this was 6-7 years ago, but I doubt many signs around Akron / Buffalo are cutting edge.

yea, i searched the 2600 site but couldnt find anything. i could have sworn i had read about it in an old issue.
they dont seem to have any ports/plugs other than a power plug from the generator, so IR seems to be my best bet.

let me go look. maybe i will even post a pic.

give me 2 min

it’s not Ka… it’s actually K band that they emit

LOL wtf

i think the controls might be under the lid in that first pic

thats not by your house is it?

where did that median come from?

^^^agreed … who can pick a lock?

:word:

Who has bolt cutters?

snipp snippy…

pics or bannnn

ORRR one would just take off all the screws on the front of that box… lol

so, are the bowling scores going to be posted on the sign tomorrow?

i can pick that lock in under 10 seconds.
