nice roll cage, that seat doesn’t look like its gonna hold u in to me.
and just with the topic of 5pt harnesses is that extra strap in the back of a 240 is that for a racing harness? and is 5pt required for solo1 or would a 4pt do as well?

Looks like MIG. Nice Fabrication on the roll bar Phillip. I’m thinking of putting in a monkey bar in the back of my coupe, so these updates help(Y).
If you’re refering to the strap in the trunk of the fastback, it’s the sunroof tie-down strap for when you remove the sunroof.
Nice work Philip, the car is looking great… something about roll cages just
does it for me
Keep up the good work, and hopefully you will be done in time for race
season…
I’ll need to ask you some questions about the cage when its finished…
oo ok thank you. i always thought it was for a racing harness. if i was to get a 4pt harness where would i hook it up?
That’s a C-Pillar Bar. A ladder bar goes underneath the car.
Just got home from my first day. Let’s not clutter up Phil’s thread though ok?
AFAIK the only bar that I can think of is a strut tower brace. I haven’t seen any other type of brace for the S13 hatch.
I would avoid this type of attachment. A STB was never designed to cope with the sideways deflection a seatbelt attachment could impose.[/quote]
He’s referring to the C-Pillar Bar. It connects to the rear shoulder belt mounting points. Currently the only company I know that develops it is Touge Factory, but I’m talking to Chris about getting CP to make them… we shall see.
Also, provided the bar is strong enough, yes it is an ideal place to mount a harness to as the mounts were in fact intended to hold seatbelts. It should be on an ideal angle too as Phil was talking about earlier.
Agreed. Get strong bars, in the right places and you won’t have any flex. Anything more is overkill.
Phil, if you’re that serious, you need a race seat. No bones about it
Looks great though. Any plans for painting the cage?
Aren’t roll cages illegal under the HTA?
so what happened with my manifold/header i gave you? an update on that?
Those look awsome. Camber plates are a must! I thought you already had a set of Cusco’s philip?
My mistake, thought you did. 300 is a very good price! Good catch Philip.
I look forward to the next update. Keeps getting better and better
Andrew.
drooling…
Looks awsome philip! That car is going to hold awsome in corners with R-compounds and that kind of camber
Is it ok to make a worthless post just to congratulate on what is looking like a great project making great progress?
I hope so
Great work Philip! Can’t wait to get a ride
Let use konw how it sounds inside with out the sound deadening out.
OT: also why are you guest?
sure can, that is an unproductive way to protest.
any specifics yet as to why?
half the cars werent from this club,
it really isnt worth arguing about, but i do think that they are way-over reacting…
obviously people will get into accidents, everyone does at some point in there life. and because everyone will at one time or another be involved in an accident it is only a matter of time before someone gets hurt in the process.
but that doesnt make people liable who not only werent there, but were not even in the same area code and had nothign to do with the situation.
i got hit by a transport truck last year on the highway in my dads car, if i wanted to i could have sued the truck driver, but i couldnt have sued his union for supporting a man who drives a truck and might hit someone…
that is just ridiculous…
