Project Subaru Impreza RS... STM Style!!

Should have read, “Take that, wallet”. As in beating up that wallet due to the high cost of the build. Should be nice.

With out a doubt those are high dollar parts. 8’s!!!

Great build…!

Did they wire wheel the inner fenders? Thats…actually a smart idea.

Killer B Oil Pickup as well?

There are a couple of reasons for going this route:

  • Being a drag only car, which is seeing boost for only 10 seconds at a time, an air-to-water intercooler is a very practical and very wise route to go in that there isn’t much time to allow for heatsink as well as there is the option of using an icebox to create very low IATs, where a air-to-air intercooler may show signs of heatsink by the end of the track.
  • While using the water-to-air intercooler, a lot of space that would normally be dedicated to a huge air-to-air intercooler is now freed up and potential weight has been shed.
  • The last good reason for this is pipe length/bends. As you can see, we have very few bends and major direction changes in this setup - if we were to use an air-to-air intercooler, there would be more direction changes (like a complete 180* turn coming out of the intercooler) if we ran an air-to-air setup.

I will do my best to post some more pictures for you to see the setup. The car’s purpose is drag only - it is going to be about as light as possible, and it’s going to go FAST (and hopefully never see the streets.)

If you have any more questions about the car, please feel free to shoot me a PM or call the shop.

Yes, we did strip off all of the factory undercoat in the name of weight savings. Don’t worry, we will be spraying the underside of the car to protect it. I’m sure just the air in Rochester is enough to rust a car.

wow this thing is amazing. very impressive.

car is already fucking ridiculous. Cant wait to see it finished.

Really clean  What are your proposed goals? ET and trap?

Looks like I missed a question here!
Our goals aren’t so precise with the car, actually.
A very happy Ben Marcus is the first. Having a serious grin on his face will do it all.

Honestly though, on wastegate pressure, the car should be quick enough to scare Ben silly.
It should be a really attainable goal to get the quickest/fastest record with the car, but how far past it we will go is only something time will tell.
Our goals may shift based on how the car reacts on the dyno as well. It doesn’t seem like much of a problem to be well into the 8’s though, with Emery behind the wheel.

We’ll try and get some more updates as things progress.

Thanks,
STM
