STM's Evo RS 2013 Build Thread

 I’ve been waiting all year to post this thread!

After the adrenaline rush of Ben’s RSTi… we are all motivated to get back to business and get the Evo RS down the track!

From what I understand, we plan on being at MIR, November 1-3 for the Import vs Domestic event… and this is our current status: Dusted off.

This looks to be our parts list thus far (lol)

So, you can expect this thread to be updated quite frequently!

Last year, the RS took Ricer’s spot as “drag car” running a best time of 8.71 @ 168 (YouTube Video). Ricer is currently back in my possession, still show car quality, and I drive it almost every day… with XM radio, A/C, Brembos, navigation… you know, all the normal luxuries most ex-8-second-shop-drag-cars possess

So far on our mod list happening now:

Forced Performance Super 99 Turbo
We are very excited to be working with FP and can’t wait to see what we can get out of this turbo!

Buschur 2.0 LR
Year after year, we run 2.0 Buschur motors, and somewhere along the line, we break… records  This year will hopefully be no different. Our 2.0LR is at Buschur now getting refreshed and ready to race!

M&H Slicks are on order, along with a brand new set of Black TE37 SL’s! Should change the look of the RS this year a bit. Can’t go wrong with those wheels, and we are also a distributor for Volk, Rays, Advan, WedsSport, Enkei and Rota wheels!

We are obviously taking the RS to the drag level we would not take Ricer. Right now we have the glass completely out of the car and will be working with a lexan company to replicate the glass, not only for the RS, but also to be available to you as a Full Lexan Evo VIII-IX Kit. Very cool.

I will keep you up to date with what is coming in… and being taken out… yes, the interior is not quite gutted enough, Austin says!

Stay Tuned

GOOD STUFF! I love watching/reading all your build threads from STM. everything is so clean and perfect and built with nothing but the best! I look forward to following this one

When your turbo is half the mass of your rims…

Another huge thanks to Robert at Forced Performance for this massive Super 99 Turbo!

The Volk TE37 SL’s are here… easily making every other wheel on the planet jealous. These are some sexy wheels.

We are a Volk/Rays/Advan/WedsSport dealer, so don’t hesitate to add a set of TE37’s on your next STM order!

Getting somewhere!

ugh these builds are motivating me to make bad decisions…

The new TiAL MV-R Wastegate and TiAL Q Blow Off Valve came in today!

Purple Hallman Pro

Polished up the purple valve cover… and that’s dry carbon in the background. Still have the hood and drunk!

TRE Rear Diff just showed up as well!

What’s the purpose of drilling screws into the wheels? Does it allow you to run a lower than recommended tire pressure? Wheel/tire slip? I’m assuming it’s the latter.

I was thinking some sort of drag focused ‘bead lock,’ but really I have no clue. In for details.

When you go fast on slicks the tires hook but spin on the rim

It’s a work in progress and looks like a bomb went off… but it’s going to be dead sexy! Well… in an anorexic model kinda way

Yes! The lexan is here! Here’s the rough photos: And we have two extra sets in stock ready to go!

We do want to make 100% sure everything fits perfectly before putting them on the website though, and we still need final weights of the lexan vs OEM glass, so stay tuned for that. Looks like the full lexan kit will be $1500 shipped though.

It’s still got the protective film on it, but as you can see… it’s crystal clear. I left the finger prints on the one window so you could tell it’s there

STM Evo VIII-IX Front Drag Brake Kit

And the Rear Brake Kit is almost done!!

http://www.streettunedmotorsports.com/z/stm_evo_rs_2013/evo_rs28.jpg

how much weight is savedd with those brakes and are they safe for the street?

Another nice project car…

I know you guys run buschur motors but if you ran a motor you built and spec’d heads/cams of your own it would put it over the top.

It’s great how reasonably priced everything you guys make is compared to other companies out there.

No one is even close in price to your brake kit

All my life I’ve want big calipers and huge rotors on my car. And now that I have an evo I want tiny ones again

There is nothing you could come up with for a 4g63 motor at this point that hasn’t been tried, tested, thought of, or already r&d’d by a company like Buschur, AMS etc. The cams emery uses are spec’d by them. STM 650 cams if you haven’t seen them. There’s a good reason people run motors from these companies, so why fix what isn’t broken?

While I completely agree, i believe the point by jay-gis trying to make is why not start to do it all in-house? It’s like having a great coffee shop of your own, but bringing in Starbucks pastry’s, you know?

To have your name 100% on everything would be pretty special.

Subscribed.

im sure they are more than capable, but to build the motors for mass production its quite expensive to have all of the tooling. i think its rather smart to outsource parts of their projects that they woudlnt be able to reproduce at the same price

There is so much custom work done to that car that a short block would be the last thing I’m worried about. That’s like saying, “hey you should make your own gear sets in house because the PPG Dogbox ones aren’t good enough already”. The amount of money it would take to accomplish that is substantial.

This car is gonna crush records for sure.
