Most of you know the 2008 Subaru imprezas are having some major rock chipping problems, I went to the dealer I bough it from (west herr) and they opened a case with SOA. Within a week SOA gave west herr the okay to repaint the the rear of the car and also apply some clear 3m tape to the problem areas.
As you can see, the paint is in bad shape, I tried buffing it but it really didn’t do anything. there is NO reflection in the photos, that’s just sandblasted paint.
So, I drop the car off and get a rental for how ever long it takes, just glad Subaru took care of me.

what did they give you as a rental? and did you get insurance ?

yeah, but i never got around to taking it to the dealer. they said they’ll have the rental waiting for me, so I have no idea what i’m getting.
My only guess would be he c6 hertz vette

It reduces weight. I guess the OP just dosent want it to be THAT fast.

I think the only other 08 wrx owner on this site is chino, i’d like to know how his paint is holding up

Repaint half the car? Great, so now instead of a small area of ruined paint, you will have half a car with ruined paint.

why would you try to buff you have a warranty.

Hmmm, a car with lousy paint, but otherwise high quality…

or

A terrible to drive American car that has poor reliablity, and slightly better paint. mediocre at best.

I wonder what the better decision is? :shrug:

Ive got an 08 WRX given its only 5 months old now but havent had any paint probs… yet… I have heard of a lot of people having this issue though.

Glad they took care of you though thats good news for future reference in case I do run into issues.

YOU NEED TO BUY THE SUBARU MUDFLAPS!

Its the only thing that will prevent this

Picked up mudflaps on day 1 because I heard the horror storys, im sure it helps but for the hood and stuff im afraid to see what salt is going to do to it during winter.

Finally got my car back, paint looks good, and they added more protective clear decal to the side.
The major thing was the corroded wiring harness,but after a search on nasioc, i guess a few people had the same problem I did.
