i worked as a car audio installer for a year and compustar was the one i installed the most, pro start was a close second. we had way less compustars come back with problems than pro starts. i’m not saying you’re wrong, it could just be coincidence. where did you get this information from?
a common thing with pro starts seems to be a defective unit right out of the box, probably 1/20 that i installed had a dead/malfunctioning brain even though it was brand new. but CT is pretty good with returns so it isn’t a major issue, just more of an annoyance.
for the price you can’t really go wrong, i’d buy it if i were you.
I was guna do the install myself, i had the FSM, bulldog security write-up (i kno ist a different alarm system but they tell you where the wires are on the 240) and the prostart instructions all ready to go. Is there anything else i should get ???The car is an s14. I wanted to go with the prostart route just because it did indeed seem like the same shit compustar is offering but much cheaper. I have the compustar on my other ride and don’t see what could make it soo much better then the prostart.
you’ll find out, they looks the same on paper but the compustar just seems to be designed better, installation is way simpler, too. the wires are laid out better and the programming menu is much easier to navigate. plus they seem to be more reliable from my experience. with alarms you really do get what you pay for.
