We do not install stereos, neons, etc. so don’t even think about it.
Negative… I’m not on this wagon… cant beat stereo adv in terms of wages… and my avail sucks atm w/ all this ish going on…
out of curiousity… who is? do they have XP in compustars or just 2-ways in general?
trunk pricing is for people that dont have factory trunk solenoids right? and transponder/passlock bypasses, how much extra do those run?
you said for people to ask if they want a diff model… trust me… and stay away from the SS model… it will give you a headache when they keep going out of sync… tell them to just get the 900FM… not worth the multiple comebacks…
These guys have many years of experience with a myriad of different 2 way systems. The first install was performed yesterday at my shop and everything went smoothly. Standard install time is 4-5 hours.
Trunk pricing is for people who want to add a trunk pop if they don’t already have one.
I’ve already been warned about the SS unit by a Compustar rep, but thanks for offering that.
I am an authorized Compustar dealer and we won’t be dealing with any other systems.
I haven’t nailed down pricing on transponder/passlock bypasses just yet. Lots of places charge $150, but it should be under 100 from us.
When you unlock the doors from the compustar remote the dome light will turn on… to light your path kinda… some cars do this automatically… its wired into the unlock wires… cheaper cars… dont… its a nice little feature and its usually as easy as just hooking it up to the door pin wire, which you already have to go to anyways for the alarm… when you hit unlock on the remote, it grounds the door pin wire making the car think the doors are open and turns on the domelight…
obviously its a bit different w/ + trigger door pins, but those are rare…
yeah… like i said, cheaper cars dont, neons, civics, etc, base model econo cars dont… and compustar isnt the only one w/ this feature… many diff brands do this…
but on that note… all remote starters and alarms pretty much do the same thing with very very few that have special little features… but I <3 compustar because they live forever, my unit is going on 5 years now through 2 cars and I still havnt had any problems… and out of the box… you run into the least amount of broken parts… 90% of the other stuff on the market has a horrrrrrible rate… ugh designtechs were terrible… half the brains out of the box were junk… i have yet to personally install a bad compustar brain… i ahve run into stupid little things like 1 bad shock sensor and 1 bad siren… outside of those, and the SS models  compustar is mostly flawless…
On the one I saw installed you follow a specific shutdown procedure that allows the remote start brain to know the car was in neutral with the ebrake set when you got out of the car.
I think it went like this:
Put car in neutral, set ebrake, remove key, car stays running.
Get out of car, lock doors, car turns off.
As long as no door is opened the brain knows the car is safe to remote start. If any door gets opened before the car is started the brain disables the remote start because it’s possible the car got put in gear.
I keep debating getting one for the GTO. I had funky install a base compustar in my Expedition years ago and love it. It’s even rigged up so if you hit the trunk release it turns on the rear defrost/mirror defrost (expedition didn’t have an electronic trunk release so we used the button for something else).
