PS2 Online?

Has anyone used PS2 online? What are your opinions between that and Xbox Online. If I’m correct it doesn’t cost anything like Xbox does. I;m thinking of trying it since I have a broadband connection and there is no subscription :dunno:

Well the main cost difference is that for PS2 you have to buy the hardware and XBOX you have to buy the service. But I am sure you know that. My PS2 has been out of commission for some time now but I use XBOX Live quite a bit. It’s pretty fun, I play Halo 2 online and there is no lag, always a good match, but also the occasional sissy whiny douche that I’m sure both services have. PS2 might experience lag since it does offer the option of using dial up. Also I’m sure there are alot more people using PS2 service, but since its basically free I would tend to think the quality of users is below that of XBOX.

Both have modded hardware alternatives too, BTW

I’m just concerned with lag. I heard that supposedly Xbox is far superior than PS2 because its basically a private network :dunno:

I read about the dial up players but all the games I;m looking at require Broadband for play, so it will limit that possible problem. I do not have Xbox, and can not justify a 300+ dollar purchase right now just to play a couple games online plus the monthly, yearly fee that comes associated with the Xbox network…

I understand not wanting to buy a new system… hell I don’t even want to spend the $50 or so to fix my PS2. But I don’t see how you are getting $300? I figure $150 for the system, $50 for the game, and the console comes with 2 free months of Live. I can chime in all day on the xbox and it’s services, but I am not nearly as familiar with the Sony online gaming.

i play madden online a good bit for ps2. its really good if the person your playing has a fast connection. but if not there is some lag and it is annoying. but when you play online it shows you what kind of connection everyone has so you can pick who you want to play and so forth

the new PS2 slim comes with the network in it i think. i use it sometimes for my PS2, i have no complaints

correct, it already comes with the DNSA( i think thats what its called) already installed

AZN’s know thier PS2’s

I don;t have a slim so I have to buy the 30 dollar network adaptor. as for Xbox pricing I was looking at prices and for a new system with 2 controllers, it was 199.00, the year of online kit with head set 60.00, and the game. I also guess You have to buy a memory card type thing :dunno: either way thats where I got the 300+…

I guess I will just get the stuff for Ps2 and try it form there sinc eyou can see people’s conection speeds and choose who you want…

Especially since it doesn;t cost anything monthly and I don;t sit in front of the PS2 all the time anyways. So paying for Xbox would be pointless…

Oh, I guess you weren’t going to ask me first if you could buy new toys?

(you know I don’t care. )

!. An Xbox with one controller is $150
2, Another first party controller is $30
3. Xboxes need no memory cards.
4. I believe you’ll get two free months of Xbox Live with the purchase of any game.
5. PS2 is for gays, and for the occasional cool game you can’t get on XBox.

shit you sit in front of that thing religiously…This should make you happy just like when I finally gave in and got DSL…

See? If you hadn’t given in to DSL, then you wouldn’t be able to play PS2 online.

i have it, its ok… i used to play madden and ATV Off Road fury on it.

i never experienced lag.
