“The current expectation from most analysts and publishers is that the PS3 will launch either in late summer or early autumn in Japan, followed by a US launch before Christmas and a European launch in the first quarter of 2007.”
edit: wow I made that URL up for anticipation but they’ve got it up already rofl
I wonder how many japanese sony employees has to commit sepoku for this dishonorable mistake.
It’s pretty much official now. November. I would think that may be a Early November for Japan and a late November for US. They won’t miss Christmas. That will keep sales up.

However, he also revealed that Sony plans to release the system in Japan, North America, and Europe simultaneously this November. That’s right, the PS3 will be in stores before the end of the year - within the first 10 days of November, to be exact. According to the company, it will have a production capacity of 1 million units a month to attempt to keep up with the demand. 6 million units are estimated to be shipped by the end of March 2007.
Maybe they will actually work all the kinks out and not rush it out like 360 was
Here’s the article as a full quote.

Kutaragi stated that the purpose of today’s meeting was not to show any new hardware or games, it was to offer an apology. He wanted to give the world an update since it was now Spring. He stated issues over the finalization of copy protection technology related to the Blu-ray disc drive were the cause for the delay. But Kutaragi also mentioned that the delay would allow for the latest HDMI (high-definition connection, essentially) support.
He did offer some tantalizing new details about the system, though. PS3 will include a 60GB hard drive (which is upgradeable) with Linux preinstalled. According to Kutaragi, developers should create games for the PS3 with assumption the hard drive will be present in the system.
60 gig hard drive! Sweet!
More updates! Plus some sweet PSP News.
Cant wait to stand in line all night and get two and sell them for quadruple.
this hopefully will mean that it will be a big jump from the PS2 - possibly a noticeable jump from the xbox as well. If Sony can bring the goods for 300 bucks and free online play, it should compete well against the 360.
AFAIK, the 360 is still missing that killer app that can justify the cost of the sysytem.
I have been considering that.
$300? What are you smoking? :pimp: More like $500.
ps3 release date aka halo 3 release date
We’ll see. IT would be a smart move by Microsoft but I don’ think they should rush their “flagship” game to compete if it’s not ready.
I can’t wait until the battle heats up. Usually that’s better for us the consumers!
:bsflag:I dont believe it
What don’t you believe?
That it’s not butter.
Ah yes… now I see.
I’m not holding my breath when it comes to any news from Sony. Remember… the network adapter and hard drive for the PS2 were both supposed to be available within the first year of the system’s life
If the PS3 does make it out before Christmas this year, there’s a 5% chance of the 360 dropping a little in price before Christmas, and a 50% it will happen after the holidays. Time will tell.
I’m going to buy 3 or 4…
