is the filter your running an APC? I had one on my turbo setup and it turned out it choked the shit out of the turbo up top. Bought a K&N similar sized and it was fine. Just wondering, that’s all.

That would be a Zimmer. http://www.zimmermotorcars.com/

your 100% correct, it is a APC, and it does rob the power on the top end.

i’m still waiting on a 4" cobra elbow. i’ve tried everything else. The only filter i havent tried yet is a HKS mushroom filter. But as it sits, the APC filter actually pushes my radiator into the core support. So the filter is wedge’d in there. I pull the rad when i need to remove the filter. If the cobra elbow works, i’ll put a big K&N on it.

haha, I would spike 12.5psi at spool up then it would drop to 10.8 near redline. We pulled it off and put the K&N on there and it holds boost to redline, no problems.

converter’s back in, and it running again.

as the summer ends, another to-do list is made for this winter.

The last 1/8th mile pass i made this year was a 8.04 @ 85mph. 1.7 60’. 22psi of boost, regular street tires, no meth. The truck roasted the tires off the line.

So the to-do list for this winter will be:

  • rebuilt the stock 10bolt with new axles (stock spline) bearings & seals
  • rear disc brake conversion
  • aluminum girdle rear diff cover
  • driveshaft loops
  • CBR Battle Bars traction bars
  • 4 Drag radials
  • redo the stock wheels
  • hookup the methanol injection
  • possibly sump the tank with a Aeromotive inline pump
  • possibly bigger injectors

man i wish i could have went last week to the track with you. i will be going there more next year for sure.
i am stillhoping to make a pass on my new setup before end of year.

good luck over winter

So i assume that new converter helped with the launch?

its not really a new converter, its just the same one rebuilt. And actually no it didn’t really help me launch better, just more consistantly. before i had it rebuilt (rebuilt twice actually). i still launched the same, i just had to pay attention that i didn’t launch tooo hard.

trouble i’m still having is that it won’t rev over 4800 rpms. This is either because of the converter, or something in my tuning. Since there’s no rev limiter, and my fuel/spark cutoffs are set to 6500, it has to be the converter, or some other part of my tune. It really hurt me on the dyno. Cause my cam makes max power at 5500 which is where i have the trans built to shift at. but i couldn’t rev it high enough.

ya i was wondering cause that 1 time we were in ohio at the track it was building like 0 boost off the line. Im assuming its all better now?

while i’m refreshing the rearend, i wanted to customize the truck a little. So i had a friend engrave the diff cover. Its engraved like the intake, and painted to match.
